Are you creating two files in your RIP, one for the print and one for the cut? That is what we do, it allows us to contour cut at a later time.

We have a VP-540, and have printed lots of Solvex static cling. We used a generic profile ECVP, and turned the heat down 5 degree on both settings, heat was the issue when we started, but it has printed fine for the last two years for us. Good luck!
