  1. Custom profiles self-destructing?

Is it possible for profiling software to build in an expiration date? Say a profile is done on Jan 1 2013, can it set the profile to expire on Jan 1 2014 requiring a new profiling be done? Nothing dramatic, like no print output, but maybe shift the output noticeably. Just a new conspiracy...
  2. Printing on Window Perf

Looks like too much heat on the platens for it to do that. I use Curvalam for laminating. Installing perf without lam is fairly easy, but it is not that much harder to learn to install laminated perf correctly.
  3. bringing offset inhouse

If your outsource requires a minimum run, then why don't you? Going to the expense of gaining the equipment, maintaining the equipment, and operating the equipment only for the purpose of making smaller runs, and smaller profits doesn't add up in my mind.
  4. White spots problem on print

Could be any number of issues, dust, bad vinyl, or static electricity. Static is a common Mutoh problem most people don't even know about or consider.
  5. Roland XC-540 error code

I hope its not the mainboard! I might just shut it down, uncover everything and blow out the dust and then reseat all the connectors. Sometimes that fixes ghost in the machine issues.
  6. Roland XC-540 error code

Tech manual, and everything was set up and running. The machine went to read the crop marks, but instead of reading the front 2 marks, it went from the base crop mark to the rear crop mark, started beeping and threw up that error code. I wrote down the code, did a complete shut down and...
  7. Fellers

If I fired a supplier every time an order got messed up, there wouldn't be anyone left for me to buy from! :ROFLMAO:
  8. Canvas Prints Stretched on to Frame

premade - Dick Blick Michaels Hobby Lobby Any local art supply store. China Or make them yourself.
  9. sets vs pairs vs pieces.

I learned that lesson a long time ago, always ask what they mean when they say "Set". Some people are on their own mathematical standards. Closing at 3:00 today, just like every Friday.
  10. Roland XC-540 error code

My XC540 threw up an error code that isnt in the "book" Internal error 1822326 This happened when the printer could not find cropmarks, havent had this error before.
  11. Monday Rant

It's only a matter of time before that stuff somebody else did bursts into flame!
  12. Fine arts vs. Graphic arts majors

Pat you really nailed what I was thinking but unable to express. Joe, I think that putting them together is going to be the approach I need to take. Overall, I'm still just a sign shop, but I am seeing the need to approach the idea of an Art Department in the vein of an Ad Agency. Thank you...
  13. Roland Versaworks not connetcing to VS-640

Did you check the subnet address as well as the IP address? If you have a crossover cable, connect the printer directly to the computer to rule out network equipment issues.
  14. Fine arts vs. Graphic arts majors

Just having a thought that is starting to come together and wondered what y'all might think. I have hired school trained graphic artists, some have had Fine Arts degrees, some have had Graphics Arts degrees. It seems that I get better creativity from the Fine Arts graduates vs. the Graphic Arts...
  15. Can't find that funny video link of customers Wanting something for nothing

"hey, my friend sent me over to you, how much for a print about this big? (holds hands apart)" probably about 20 bucks. "My friend said you only charged him 16, why is it different for me?!?" Did your friend tell you I shot a man in Reno just to watch him die?
  16. tow behind boom lift

I would only buy a used one from a rental company that is giving a 30 day money back guarantee. Those things are too easy to turn into death traps by improper use and lack of maintenance.
  17. Making business cards at your shop?

For a sign shop, its a value added product. Find a good wholesaler and charge accordingly for art. The equipment is expensive, the process is not as easy as you think, and it takes a huge volume to turn a profit. Now if you are looking for a niche with biz cards, then find an old letterpress...
  18. Roland SolJet Pro III-XC-540...blacks suddenly printing more green?

Underneath the head, pull the line from the capping station to the pump and pull the ink from there.
  19. Roland SolJet Pro III-XC-540...blacks suddenly printing more green?

Change the capping station sponge, medium clean, test print. If that doesn't work then pull ink with a syringe.
  20. Sometimes the irony is TOO much....

Does it say vistaprint on the back?
