I would NOT use windex. I use 3M's CGS-80 as a cleaner. What do you do daily cleaning with in your place?
Have you tried an ink fill up on that specific head?
We laminate flatbed stuff here and if there is not a solid white edge, it gets printed on the Mimaki. I have learned that the laminate does not stick to flatbed inks very well over time.
There is a halo effect of bubbles around the letters and it looks like cut vinyl is laminated on a flat...

I read something in the Fellers catalog today about removing reflective vinyl. Of course, it is by the gallon but could be worth looking into. NO HEAT REQUIRED! Biodegradable, Non-Toxic, low VOC's.
Reflective Vinyl-Off is the product name. Page 104 in the 2011 catalog.
