  1. Mind is a blank - Versaworks

Loving versaworks. Just getting up to speed in it. Surprisingly intuitive and easy on the eyes.
  2. How long should it take to rip a 300mb file in Versaworks?

Agree with anotherdog. 300mb for vectors at 30mins sounds weird. If its a raster image, then 30 minutes sounds pretty reasonable.
  3. material collector for vp540i.

Even with a catch basket, aren't you guys getting the faces of prints stuck to eachother? I made a small catch "box" if you will and ours are still getting stuck to eachother.
  4. 64 bit processor & Versaworks

Haven't had any issues at all with 3.2 on Vista 64. Thought it was screwy when I tried updating and it took a couple of hours, but I guess it was just a large update because it worked great after that.
  5. Roland SP 540 Versacamm owners....

Slow, but far better than what we were using. Loving it so far.
  6. Official: Whiskey Thread

I do love me a good cigar once in awhile. Haven't started drinking and smoking at the same time. Sounds like a good time though. Acid Kuba Kuba's are my favorite.
  7. Font ID please

That site is hit or miss at best. If it worked 100% I would never post Font ID threads.
  8. Font ID please

Funny, I have a font on my system called Hand Drawn.
  9. Just another daily job

Very nice. Simple text on a pleasant background. Customer must be pleased. Its jobs like those for us that really help to keep things going and paid for.
  10. 60" Wide Format Printer Advice

The 5500 is very easy to use and fairly easy in terms of maintenance. Can print posters and POP items all day long on it. I wouldn't call it slow by any means.
  11. Can't get CutContour to work

I know I have to have it set on Postscript level 3 to work properly. Just a thought.
  12. Where to get Plastic Bags Printed??

Yes, I believe ULine does custom printing. Don't have experience with their printing, but they are well known for their other products. www.uline.com
  13. Christmas Gift for Sign Companies Question

Fresh baked items and food usually go over very well. A clock looks cool, but food goes over well with the employees at said companies. Just my $.02
  14. "Hey Shovel" Font Help Please!

Lets just lock down the site. No sections whatsoever unless you pay up front. Why not right? I can't count on on my fingers and toes how many people I've helped with fonts, so now you want to essentially charge for that feature so when I need the favor returned, what I'm just out of luck? There...
  15. "Hey Shovel" Font Help Please!

We really should have a font IDing contest. Would be a blast.
  16. Some body owns a HP 5500 Designjet?

Like others said, it is ideal for indoor applications. You'll run into big problems trying to do anything on vehicles or long term outdoor signage. Decent outdoor vinyl can be quite expensive for it. The big plus about it is that its very very easy to take care of, to use and to nail colors on...
  17. New Applications and Medias

Yea, backlits are tough, especially when the customer is looking for an exact color match. I love getting files for backlit panels that don't account for the molding meant to hold the actual panel. Its certainly a more challenging aspect of the industry.
  18. A good way to get a customer to call is:

Center hinge a 4x8 with exposed vinyl in your left hand and a squeegee in your right.
  19. How is business....

Wow, this was a great informative thread.
  20. How is business....

We seem to be quoting a lot more jobs but many of them never come to fruition. We have spurts of being very busy then it becoming completely dead. Right now we are steady but certainly on the lower end of things. Aren't breaking any records here. Taking the extra time here and there to clean up...
