  1. Mercury Optimax Logo

Try going to Google and searching for: "Mercury Optimax filetype:pdf" and see what comes up. If the results from that are lousy, add "site:mercurymarine.com"
  2. Photoshop files between mac/pc help!

IME, lots of programs won't read Adobe proprietary file-formats. PDFs are a notable exception, but then they're designed to the end of broad compatibility. Still, try feeding an .ai file into your garden variety RIP and you're not going to get too far. If this worked before, did it stop...
  3. Bioshock Infinite - Eye candy for sign makers.

I run a Radeon 7850 right now ($200~$220ish) and I've yet to install anything that didn't run great. Now, we might be turning a big corner in terms of hardware requirements since the next generation of consoles is right on the horizon, but I'll play that one by ear. If you're looking for...
  4. Bioshock Infinite - Eye candy for sign makers.

I suspect Irrational might have made Bioshock Infinite so there'd finally be an appropriate place to use Algerian.
  5. Is Microsoft Word Art Copywritten

Here's a basic rundown of copyright as it pertains to use of clip-art. TL;DR: The legality of adding a few lines of text under a canned photo you grabbed off of a server in Redmond and then claiming copyright on it is highly dubious. Of course on the other hand, will anyone take you to court...
  6. Font Id Help

    Kimberly is pretty close.
  7. font id please

Definitely Saddlebag. It's even got that same jacked-up projection on the bowl of the "R".
  8. Contour Cut Photo Tex

This is probably a really stupid idea, but I've noticed that one of the only things that sticks to Phototex is more Phototex. Could you try using Phototex as the mask? I doubt it would be easy, but it might be easier than hand-laying each letter.
  9. Interioir vinyl on sheetrock. Recomendations

+1. We've yet to see Phototex pull paint, too.
  10. Trouble with font, please help

Really splitting hairs here, but I think Bodoni's Berthold Medium flavor plus a little bit of a stroke is the one. Note the flip up on the tail of the "R" and the slight outward angle of the bottommost serif of the "E". http://www.myfonts.com/fonts/berthold/bodoni-bq/medium/ Of course this...
  11. Help me please

Is your font experiencing "performance issues?"...
  12. Gloss or matte, what's your standard?

Matte also looks better on television. Had some glossy crash-pads on the side of a football field end up getting a prominent shot during a broadcast, and they picked up the glare of the stadium lights so badly that they obliterated the sponsor's logos. We did not make that mistake again.
  13. JV3 SP130 II Continuous printing

Our JV3 does this. If you group everything you're printing together in Rasterlink it won't stop between each job since the machine perceives it as a single long run. Granted, that's a hack, but then I haven't devoted much time to solving this problem since it's very seldom an issue for us...
  14. Buying a new printer...Which one?

Buy the Mimaki. All the shiny new whiz-bang tech in the world is pretty much insignificant in the face of a machine that prints bright, consistent colors, very quickly with relentless reliability. (That said, DO NOT get white/silver ink on the JV33. That is a waste of time and money. If you...
  15. Printing Problem

Yeah, the ink pump. In most large format printers there's a pump that pushes the ink from the cartridges (or reservoirs, if you're using bulk ink) through to the print heads. Sometimes if you get a hole in one of the lines or one of the seals in the system starts to fail you'll drop colors...
  16. Printing Problem

Maybe an air pressure issue? When's the last time you had your pump checked out?
  17. Pole sleeves confuse me!

Heh, sounds like someone downstream of you doesn't feel like doing the math.
  18. Options you'd like to see in VersaWorks?

Didn't know this, so I'll likely start doing it immediately, but why can't we add multiple files from within the application itself? At this point it's a nitpick but why can't I just manage the one window on my RIP station instead of having to juggle two?
  19. Is it time to take a baseball bat to my FC8000?

I assume you're running a single file repeated 100 times or so? You're sure your cut path isn't rotated 180^? I've gotten stung by that before, something might look perfectly centered, but it's just slightly off. Now why the scaling would be off on the third run, I gotta say an obvious cause...
