  1. Did I get a bad roll of media? Orajet 3751 RA

I tried the Orajet 3751 profile for my printer/rip and it looks exactly the same.
  2. Did I get a bad roll of media? Orajet 3751 RA

Dammit, so this is how the stuff is SUPPOSED to print? We pretty much use Oracal materials exclusively, but this is my first roll of the 3751. I have always used 3951 and 3551 using the Roland GCVP profile with great success.... I guess I will start looking for a profile to use, and I probably...
  3. Did I get a bad roll of media? Orajet 3751 RA

Came in to the shop today to catch up on some printing, and the first roll of media I loaded up was a fresh roll of Orajet 3751 RA. Started printing to discover I was getting horrible print quality. After checking the file, cussing for a few minutes, cleaning the printer, checking all of the RIP...
  4. Double-sided sign on U-Channel post

  5. Double-sided sign on U-Channel post

Just wondering, can I mount signs to both sides of a standard u-channel post? Could bolts be attached through one sign face, through the post, and out the other sign face, secured with a nut on the other side? I know that the two sides of the post are not the same, not sure if this will cause me...
  6. Cutting Mat Recommendation?

Just bought (2) 5' x 10' cutting mats from Wensco. They were around $180/ea and printed grid was not an option on this size, but it was available for 4' x 10' mats. Not sure where you are located, but try to find something from a vendor that delivers, mine was delivered for free with the rest of...
  7. Where to purchase a short roll of anti-curl banner media?

I would sub it out if any of my sources stocked this material, seems that none of them do. If anyone that reads this wants to send me a quote for a 4' x 8' printed on an anti-curl banner material, please send me a PM. Thanks!
  8. Where to purchase a short roll of anti-curl banner media?

I have a customer who wants to order a banner for their retractable banner stand (roll-up window shade type). I would prefer to use an anti-curl media that will keep the edges straight, but all my vendors only sell 100' rolls, with the exception of pospro who sells a 10' piece of 36" material...
  9. Edge lighting acrylic, or very slim backlighting?

So, would these LED's be attached directly to the back of the acrylic with the graphics? Or are you saying that these would be attached around the edge/perimeter of the piece? I kind of figured that there would need to be some space to diffuse the light if they were placed directly behind the...
  10. Looking for a thick/semi-rigid calendered vinyl, recommendations?

This is what we currently do, it does work well but my employee was having a very difficult time with these pieces today so I decided I would look into a different print media. Thanks!
  11. Edge lighting acrylic, or very slim backlighting?

Thanks for your help! Is the wall wort necessary if we are able to tie into an existing power supply? Customer will be wiring it into the unit and not myself.
  12. Edge lighting acrylic, or very slim backlighting?

I need to backlight (or edge-light?)a small piece of acrylic that gets mounted inside a vending machine in an existing opening/bezel. The area is approximately 4" x 6" and I can tap in to the existing power supply inside the machine (12v or 24v AC available). I am looking for the most economical...
  13. Looking for a thick/semi-rigid calendered vinyl, recommendations?

That sounds like a great idea, thank you! And thanks for the replies, I am going to try slitting the backing while we look for another material.
  14. Looking for a thick/semi-rigid calendered vinyl, recommendations?

We print some promotional signs weekly for one of our clients that are mounted to foamcore (short-term use, approx 1 week). I don't like working with foamcore generally, it is too fragile and I usually try to steer customers in a different direction and use sintra 3mm or 6mm if possible. This...
  15. Huge wall wrap using PhotoTex, couple of questions....

Thanks for all of the replies! I called PhotoTex directly and was put in contact with the owner. He was very helpful and informed me that there is a new "opaque" phototex material available, but it is not solvent printable (bummer for me), but there is another local shop with a latex printer so...
  16. Huge wall wrap using PhotoTex, couple of questions....

The wall is a sage color (light green/tan). Do you know of a wall wrap material that is more opaque? Will I be better off using Avery MPI 2611? My customer has indicated that they want the white background of the print to be a bright white, so color showing through will be a problem. Thanks!
  17. Huge wall wrap using PhotoTex, couple of questions....

I appreciate the replies! Forgive my ignorance, but what do you mean by "double-cut"? Since this material is not entirely opaque, should I worry that the graphic is mostly white? Will the color of the wall show through the graphic at all?
  18. Huge wall wrap using PhotoTex, couple of questions....

A big customer of ours has asked for a quote wrapping a wall. The wall is drywall with a flat painted finish. The size of the area to wrap is approximately 15' high by 25' wide. The design is going to be a repeating logo pattern over the whole wrap, on a white background. I have never used any...
  19. Just today receiving run-time errors in Flexi Cloud

I had no idea...... ........that I was paying THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS for BETA SOFTWARE!!!!! This is not the first time that this piece of $&^*% software has failed me and caused my entire shop to come to a screeching halt. I know that SAI reads these forum posts and hope that they read this post...
  20. Employees, need advice on taking the next big step with my business...

Great thread, and such great advice from people who have been there and went through the same situation.... My situation sounded EXACTLY like yours about 20 months ago, when I finally decided to hire my first employee (with all of the extra paperwork and costs that come with it). Since hiring...
