  1. Need Help SP540V - Printing Issue - Black lines

The combination of everything has helped some but definitely not back to normal so I'm still curious what I'm missing. I'm very comfortable working on these machines and have taken them apart and put them back together for years now, so the encoder strip removal is definitely not daunting on my...
  2. Need Help SP540V - Printing Issue - Black lines

Small morning update: Did a head soak last night (overnight) and it changed very minimally. If anything its cleared up some of the spraying but hasn't changed my test prints all too much. The streak lines are definitely not from dust or hairs. I keep the machine well cleaned and dusted...
  3. Need Help SP540V - Printing Issue - Black lines

I haven't soaked the head no, but based on what I'm seeing I will likely be doing that tonight! Anything else I can try?
  4. Need Help SP540V - Printing Issue - Black lines

My nozzle check isn't completely horrible, I've seen worse and have printed much better. It's also been practically the same for over a year now with this nozzle check, so I'm hesitant to say that that's changed. When you all refer to fuzz or dust on the carriage are you referring to fuzz/dust...
  5. Need Help SP540V - Printing Issue - Black lines

I can't seem to get over this hurdle and unfortunately I can't exactly recall when this exactly started, but I can't seem to get a clean black print. I keep getting these "lines" on the edges of black, which I was not getting on this exact same artwork previously. I've cleaned the heads well...
  6. SP540v - Crop print/cut - With or without heat?

So I can't come to a conclusion on what to do in this circumstance. I seem to be having some inconsistencies when I print, laminate, crop read then cut. Is it better to do A or B? A: Print (with heat), laminate, crop read/cut (no heat) or B: Print (with heat), laminate, crop read/cut (WITH heat)
  7. Sp540v - ink drain, slow?

Mine wakes up every (I think) 4 hours and still doesn't purge much.
  8. Sp540v - ink drain, slow?

Interesting. It's been so long since I've had a 540 that I can't remember how long they would take to fill. The XR640s I recently had used at my previous employer would fill quite often, albeit we did a lot of printing.
  9. Sp540v - ink drain, slow?

In terms of cleaning all of that has/is done on a regular and my nozzle check print results out good for the heads age. New caps are also spotless clog wise. I also, every so often, let some solution sit in them and drain out. The only thing i've never done is use a syringe to push/pull some...
  10. Sp540v - ink drain, slow?

Ive noticed recently that my SP540v doesn't really fill the drain bottle much. If I do a cleaning (just a standard one by holding "cleaning" while the printer is on) the bottle will receive some inks but otherwise I'm not sure there is ink actually draining into it on its own when it wakes from...
  11. Need Help SP540v - Pinch Roller adjustment - Tracking

Yea, leaning towards it. I've shimmed the right side (very badly/ghetto) and it does seem to help. I notice my left and right side of the graphics are good now, but the center seems to almost bow a hair and the feed is off a mm. Might just need more pinch rollers, only issue is the previous...
  12. Need Help SP540v - Pinch Roller adjustment - Tracking

New here as a member, but I've been lurking for years. I currently have an SP540v in my fleet. I'm quite versed on every aspect of this machine including repairs, head replacements, board replacements etc. I'm not afraid to dig in nor unfamiliar with the service menu. Now my question is...
