  1. Roland SP 300V Ink Cross Contamination

Ok, great, thanks guys! I would prefer to not play with the dampers if possible (they scare me a bit), so am I ok to continue drawing ink from the cap rather than the damper? I understand that this will take both black and cyan but at this point, I'm not worried too much about wasting ink so if...
  2. Roland SP 300V Ink Cross Contamination

Hi everyone, I'm having some ink cross contamination problems with my trusty Roland SP 300V, and I've done a bunch of reading on this forum and attempted many fixes with little progress. The problem only seems to be some Black getting into the Cyan (shared head). I found this quote... "...the...
  3. Need Help Roland SP-300v Wacky Test Print Registration

Ok, so this seems very odd. I've been running the printer since repairs today and the latest print doesn't have those "legs" coming off the crop marks. It seems to have fixed itself, which is great I guess but sorta scary as I have no idea how it did. I'll just keep printing away and see what...
  4. Need Help Roland SP-300v Wacky Test Print Registration

Thanks for the info VanderJ, I just swapped out the Encoder Board and re-cleaned the strip. After, I went into Service Mode (which I am not very familiar with), and ran Linear Encoder and Linear Calibration. When I ran a print after it seems to be printing well, except there are a few random...
  5. Need Help Roland SP-300v Wacky Test Print Registration

Hi everyone, this forum has been extremely helpful in the past and can hopefully help me out with another problem I'm having with my Roland SP-300V. She was printing great and then starting getting slight registration issues when printing causing blurry images. I figured the encoder strip...
  6. Roland SP-300V Banding problem??

That was it Ragnabrok! Thanks so much for the help. I guess those caps may be ok after all. This forum is so helpful. Thanks again!
  7. Roland SP-300V Banding problem??

Ah!, Never thought of that! I thought that was just to control the cutting (as that is what I cleaned when cutting wasn't accurate). I'm off to clean it now... I'll post results. Thanks!
  8. Roland SP-300V Banding problem??

Hello everyone, I'm having a problem with my trusty old Roland SP-300V, hopefully the experts here can help. A little back story, the machine is 8ish years old and has worked almost flawless in that time. It runs maybe 10 to 15 hours a week. The only parts I had changed in its lifetime is the...
  9. Roland SP-300v Ink, Head, Cap Problem?? Lots of drop outs

Brilliant!!! It works again! I moved the heads around like you said to find a good seal and the syringe drew both inks easily. Now she's printing perfect again! Thank you so much. I'll order some new caps and replace those ASAP but for now the machine works and can finish jobs until parts come...
  10. Roland SP-300v Ink, Head, Cap Problem?? Lots of drop outs

Cool, I'll try moving the heads around a bit to create a better seal. Otherwise, I'll try to source some local Roland parts tomorrow and install a new pair of caps. Thanks!
  11. Roland SP-300v Ink, Head, Cap Problem?? Lots of drop outs

Did you see my post just before your last one? I tried a small 3cc syringe and couldn't draw any ink from either line (other than a single drop from the blue). I'm guessing that means that there is a leak between the heads and the caps? Thanks for the help with this.
  12. Roland SP-300v Ink, Head, Cap Problem?? Lots of drop outs

So I remembered that I had some small 3cc syringes around. I tried one of those to draw the ink through the heads and caps by removing the hose from the Y (would a syringe of this size be strong enough to draw the ink?). I was only able to draw a single drop of blue and no red ink at all when I...
  13. Roland SP-300v Ink, Head, Cap Problem?? Lots of drop outs

Excellent, thanks! I'll pickup a syringe tomorrow and try that. I'm going to order new caps and install those as well, but I'm just looking for a quick fix to get a few jobs done before the parts show up. Hopefully the syringe trick will do it.
  14. Roland SP-300v Ink, Head, Cap Problem?? Lots of drop outs

Update and more questions. I've attached an updated image of the test prints. #4 is from my last post. #5 is after I did the coffee filter trick to soak the heads for 30-minutes. I gained some new dashes for each color. I then soaked the head in a similar manner as the coffee filter way but I...
  15. Roland SP-300v Ink, Head, Cap Problem?? Lots of drop outs

Hi everyone! First post. I was on google looking for a solution to my problem and this forum kept coming up, so I joined. I have a Roland SP-300V that has worked almost flawlessly for 7ish years now. It’s used almost every day for a few hours (5 days a week). The machine sat unused for two...
