Firmware version Yes. 3.0 is the current firmware revision for the VP-300/540 ~E
  2. Roland Intelligent Pass Control Upgrade Available for the VP-300 & 540

oops I'm glad the upgrade is working... It really does make the VP a speedy printer! No more 'scoops' from me though... Apparently some of us hardcore Roland-heads couldn't wait until the 5th for the download and called Roland tech support for the upgrade on the 4th. This caused some...
  3. Roland Intelligent Pass Control Upgrade Available for the VP-300 & 540

Roland has announced a free Pure Print Performance upgrade for the VP-series. Includes a firmware upgrade and an upgrade to VersaWorks 3.1.1 So what's the upside? Roland Intelligent Pass Control (RIPC) is the same inkdrop technology found in the SOLJET PRO III series and the new VersaArt...
  4. Roland Question ??

Odometer Rollback Anyone who knows the service code and has a little knowledge can reset the counters on pretty much any of the history items. If you suspect foul play your best bet is be candid with the dealer in question. Tell them that you intend to call Roland with your serial number...
  5. VersaCamm SP-300V

Damper issue I assume that you mean that you are not seeing a yellow test patch... but show two magenta test patches. If this is true--at the very minimum--you will need the yellow damper replaced (you are getting backflow) If you haven't had any service in the past three years, I'd invest in...
  6. Roland raising prices

LEC pricing The LEC-300 was introduced at $49,995. An increase of 5% brings it to $52,495. It's certainly an interesting machine. I wasn't a fan after going to the launch meeting... but I gained some interest after spending some time with one. I really wish that Roland would come out with a...
  7. Roland raising prices

Prices going up... Yep. Roland DGA is raising prices on equipment by 5% as of 2/1/2009. They are holding prices on ink... but actually lowering the prices of many of their Roland Certified Print Medias. Dealer discounts will also be negatively affected. Graphtec America will be raising prices...
  8. Roland Warranty ???

Two year warranty detail... The Standard Roland Limited Warranty provides for one year of coverage-- in the US too. However, Roland Digital Graphics America will provide a free additional year of limited warranty coverage on all printers it has sold after January 1, 2007 (except SP-series...
  9. 4all, what is the best?

Roland lawsuit Don't worry... If it comes to it, you can be sure Roland is not afraid of a good costly legal battle. I wonder how Roland will make out in the Gerber print/cut patent infringement lawsuit? Both Mimaki and Graphtec have purchased licenses from Gerber but Roland refused to bite. ~E
  10. Roland SP300 (Contour Cut) Issue

Need more info... I understand that your cut is approximately 1/16" off. Are your cuts accurate at the beginning of the print? Do they gradually lose accuracy toward the back end of the print? What is the length of the print? BTW...The blade offset that you are seeing is the correct offset...
  11. sp540v service call 0106

Disconnect Error Error code 106 is a failure to disconnect the Tool Carriage from the Head Carriage error. The most common fix is that the Limit position may need to be reset (the relative distance between the limit sensor and the capping station). You do this with with the LIMIT POSITION &...
  12. Serious cutting issues with Graphtec!

FC8000 Tool Up Height Adjustment Graphtec fixed this issue with the FC8000 series. With the FC8000-series, Graphtec added a Tool Up Height adjustment. It can be set from 0 to 4mm (equal to 157 mils). You set this via the control panel. The FC8000 series can cut materials upto 59 mils thick. ~E
  13. VP-300 Printing Problem

Nozzle Test? Still having the issue? Can you post a nozzle test? The prints that you post don't look good at all. Looks too intense to be a weird static thing. Suspect a head board or even the head? Any VP-model should be still be covered under warranty. Get a tech out there pronto. ~E
  14. Roland SP540 Bi/Uni directional

Encoder... Ah the encoder strip... actually had a customer forcibly pull it out because it was in the way of her cleaning the track on her SP-300. She thought it was decorative.... In any case, probably a combination of the encoder strip and more likely the Encoder Sensor. Half of the Linear...
  15. XC 540 Cost per print

Ink? WDP, Sounds like you are happy with using a 3rd party ink in your Roland (XC-540?) Which brand are you using? Are you using a bulk system or cartridges? How's the scratch resistance compared to Roland OEM ink? ~E
  16. SP540 Color Problem

Place Alternated Thanks Kev! I didn't see that! Yes. It's the "Place Alternated" check box in the Crop/Tiling window. ~E
  17. SP540 Color Problem

Nice feature... That's a nice feature, but not one that's built into VW. I'll have to send a "wish list" note to the software guys at Roland. ~E
  18. SP540 Color Problem

Flipping Panels I've seen this... especially when printing solid blues on the SP-540V I think that you are seeing a slight difference in color from the left side of the print, to the right side of the print. So when you butt the prints together, you are seeing a hard-edge difference in color...
  19. XC-540 Service Call 109

Wiper Protection Error Sorry for the delay in reply... I hope that you are already up and running This error means that the wipers are not where the machine expects them to be... i.e. the sensor hasn't been tripped. It's a machine protection error which means nothing will work, just in case...
  20. SP300 Print History Report

Thoughts on print history Certainly unusual... if they were trying to pull one over on you I would think that they would "adjust" the history look like a new machine...not an old machine. Is it possible that the mainboard was replaced with a used board from another machine... and not zero'd...
