We're pulling our hair out over our versaart 640...we swapped a magenta ink cartridge mid print and it went for a foot or two and turned the red banner yellow..(magenta quit)
Since then we could find no reason as to why it stopped...we have taken it apart and run cleaning cycles swapped the...
Bringing in a 3in x8in thing on a thumb drive and wondering why it looks crappy as a 3'x8'.
It would be one thing if it was made to actual size, or high enough res to blow up...but seriously you think these crap 1 inch logos you found on google are gonna do it?
and your tiny strokes?
and RGB...
As in the best deal, we use the oracal tape...
so wheres the cheapest source or even a better alternative to the yellow backed oracal tape.. I tried a no name white backed hem tape a while back and was not impressed.
I know this is a bit off topic for a sign forum but we've got a pro-cut mps system that is stuck on millimeters and has been for several months...
Does anyone know how to turn it back to inches or better yet has a manual?
Thanks in advance!

I heard from a guy that it was a good edge sealer, at least better because of price over the seal it pen.
Is it really a good edge sealer, or should I go with strips of lam?
Seems to me it would be easier to use nail polish and go around the design rather than cutting and splicing pieces of...
I've actually looked into it and read about them (briefly) and I don't see the appeal...
They seem to print and cut designs, but what makes them superior(or not) to solvent/latex printing.
It looks expensive and slow and as much could be achieved with cut vinyl.
Where am I not making the...
Ok, so as an installer/production manager I've applied all kinds of decals and whatnot to cars and trucks over 10 years.
I have done one full wrap of a chevy astrovan at my previous employer, I learned a hellava lot, and fellow signs101 member Kentucky Wraps came by to show me a few tricks...
Is it scientifically possible to not punch one's self in the gut or be picking bits and pieces off when done?
Has it been made? is it reasonably priced?
Is plastic tape the only way to go?
We try to use the search function, but it never directs us to the answer, so we end up posting something that has been posted a million times...
Google searches this forum better.
No offense to fred he does lots of work to keep this site up, its just that maybe I'm not searching right?
And yes...
I know this may sound like a dumb question, but what is the best way to "contour" outline some vector art for print and cut?
We are using adobe cs4
I got the print and cut part, its the outlining that is stumping me.
It would be wonderful if I could just click the stroke up to where I want it...
My trusty Kobalt (small olfa breakaway style) knife is wearing out...sure I could return to lowes and they would give me a new one, but it really isn't the best for signmaking...
Which are your favorite knives?
Ease of use?
Ergo Grip?
rounded front?
Will cut something it shouldn't be cutting...
Maybe I just can't grasp its subtle usefulness but versaworks clip and tile pains me greatly...
Yeah I understand it is just trying to help and it was designed by people much smarter than me....but for example I've got 20 signs on one file and for some reason I can't move a slider how I want it...
Is there setting somewhere for the machine to automatically retract the banner material that you pull out the front each time when you load it?
Or is it just manual pressing the button to retract it
So what does this mean...
I made a file with each cmyk color and test printed it after seeing banding on a red print.
there is only banding on the magenta print head...does that mean its going bad or what?
Roland Versa art 640
:thankyou:
So I was crankin out some signs today and realized something....my knuckles on my right hand are shiny and smooth as all get out...
Anyone else have this condition? If you don't you're not holding your squeegie right ;)
Found this 4 foot one on SignCrafters blog only to find out it was 7 inches...
http://signcraft.com/community/blogs/20110915/Seeing-is-believing-This-chart-helps-clients-understand-distance-legibility.aspx
I searched the forums and no luck...does anyone know where to get one?
Like it will have...
Of course the quality, but recently we had a tech tell us that high speed mode wears the printer out...I think he may have been talking about the encoder strip.
