  1. Need to outgas?????

Am I the only one who actually lets the ink outgas for 24 hours before laminating on wraps? I believe that out-gassing is important, but it is the time I am wondering about. Assuming we are talking about wraps (not signs or something flat or cheap) would anyone here say that it makes a...
  2. Nissan NV material recommendation

Thanks for the detailed response. I hate inlays and have never/will never do them unless a client really wants it. I just think they look awful. We are using the 1360 which is the 1.3 mil lam. We are also using a heat gun and a digital thermometer to carefully monitor the heat (pre heating and...
  3. Nissan NV material recommendation

Yeah, tell me about it. I am not opposed to spending money if it is worth it, I just really hope that there is a way to do this without have to buy the most expensive material out there or it will be very hard to compete (price-wise) with the hacks that will use anything. Particularly on the...
  4. Its been nice knowing you all

Anyone worried about the apocalypse can drop off their valuables at my house tonight.
  5. Reworking the website

Overall, I think it looks very nice. I did not read the whole thing, but two things jump out at me. First, the slide show is WAY too fast. I would make it run about a third of the speed AND give the ability to pause it. Secondly, the content is over optimized for Google and it is obvious...
  6. Can someone please tell me what I am doing wrong?

Interesting. We post heated to 190* and the 1005 blistered (we did keep the heat moving and monitored the temp closely). It seemed to blister with anything over about 160*. You have never run into that with 1005?
  7. Nissan NV material recommendation

Did you use any adhesive promoter? Any chance you could show some close up photos of the deep contours, especially in the corners? My installer is pretty experienced, but everyone has room to increase their knowledge. Can you describe your technique that worked for you (temp...
  8. Nissan NV material recommendation

Thanks for your input. We have tested 3751 and Avery 1005, but never 3951. I gather there is a big difference between the 3751 and 3951, is that right? Just today, we tried the IJ180 without primer and it seemed to confirm and hold pretty well (only checked for about an hour indoors) though I...
  9. Pro Outline Vs. Mr. Clipart

There are NO accurate templates other than taking a photo and superimposing your design. If you don't have the vehicle download a photo from Google images, design on that and then when you get the vehicle in front of you, just scale your file after measuring it yourself.
  10. Sending large files via dropbox

You must have some sort of Internet connection! We have a 10Mbps upload speed and that (2GB) would take hours to upload to Dropbox. To the OP, 38MB is not a large file (as everyone else has said), I regularly upload files at 100MB+ sizes from my cell phone to Dropbox with no issue and that...
  11. Need your help testing on our wrap material

I sent you an email. I'll test and report ASAP once I receive the sample.
  12. Nissan NV material recommendation

We have been having considerable difficulty finding a good vinyl for the deep channels on a Nissan NV cargo van. We are doing a full wrap (roof and all) have tried Avery 1005 (with pre and post heating exactly per Avery's specs), Arlon 6000, and Oracal 3751. So far, the Oracal seems the best...
  13. How do you present artwork to your customer?

Very professional looking, I like it, BUT there is one major potential problem that I see from a legal standpoint (not that I am an attorney). I know it is not your intention, and I completely get what you mean, but the form says that once they sign it, they own it. It says nothing about paying...
  14. ICC Profiles for Roland VS-540

I will perform these upgrades tomorrow morning. Have you noticed quality improvements from them?
  15. ICC Profiles for Roland VS-540

Am I understanding correctly, that in order to get the quality looking good, not only can't you use high speed or standard, but you actually have to set it to 12 passes? I have never profiled a large format printer, but that ”sounds“ like an awful lot and would take forever to make a print, no...
  16. ICC Profiles for Roland VS-540

Hi, I did speak with the dealer and they say that this should not be happening as many people have this machine and are using it successfully. They will send a tech to try to troubleshoot it, which is great, but I just wish I had know before buying it that profiles would be such a big issue...
  17. ICC Profiles for Roland VS-540

I just bought a new Roland VS-540 and was looking forward to awesome print quality on banner and vinyl. I have, however, run into a HUGE issue finding virtually any ICC profiles for the VS-540 configured with white and metallic ink running Versaworks. I have checked the following: Arlon...
  18. White + Metallic ink price & speed

I own the VS-540 with metallic and white, but can't really compare it to your printer's speed or ink consumption since I have never owned the 640 or dual CMYK. It does, however, like to clean itself an awful lot and the white and metallic need to be shaken daily.
