  2. doing a wrap w/corel draw....

granted, gradients between the two programs will have some differences because they...aren't the same program, however -- did you happen to check if your profiles were sync'd for color?
  3. Color between programs

Chances are its not the monitor profile you need to sync, its the one between the two programs. Also, check to see if you are running relative colormetric in one and absolute in the other...that will definitely affect it.
  4. Blue and Back Pin Lines

have you taken a look under the head carriage while its moving across? see if it picked up any lint or built up ink under it and is dragging across. also make sure your edge guards don't have hardened ink on them either.

most wraps at 100ppi will be over a half gig.
  6. New puter, what to do with Photoshop

Depending on what version of PS you have and what type of processor you are running will determine how much available RAM photoshop will utilize. There is a good document right here that discusses this topic further. If you are running a 64-bit processor you can use more.
  7. New puter, what to do with Photoshop

set the scratch disk to your secondary drive, always a good rule of thumb to not run it on the same drive as your OS. You could bump your memory usage to 60% on most machines over 2 gigs of ram as well keep it under 80% though and you will be fine.
  8. My New Mac....

two of the best investments we made were buying new mac pro machines when we had the chance. We had PPC G5s prior and they were incredibly fast, but the 3ghz Quad-core Intel Clovertown processors with 16gb RAM put them to shame. Granted the hefty price tag on them is a little bit much, but...
  9. Font help please.

www.masgrafx.com/masgrafxracing/modules.php?op=modload&name=Downloads&file=index&req=viewsdownload&sid=497 checkout that site, has some racing fonts that are commonly used. Don't know if the one you needed is in there, but its worth a look.
  10. Where to get Font CD's

Speaking of Adobe, FontFolio 11 is now out. http://www.adobe.com/products/fontfolio/ Worth the investment. Lots of timeless fonts there for print/display etc.
  11. Where to get Font CD's

Most "font cds" like the ones you buy in walmart etc are usually fairly crappy fonts that you can find online for free anyway. If you are serious about purchasing fonts from Foundries such as A&S, SignDNA, LetterHead Fonts (all great sign fonts) you will be much more happy with their quality...
  12. Corel X3 - Can't Install...

AVG and Kaspersky will not let you install X3 for some odd reason especially if you have Ad-aware running as well. Dunno why, but as soon as i disabled all of them it was fine.

Awesome design, just a shame the wheel well hacks the copy up.
  14. wacom designing

depending on the monitor you are using. Wacom makes widescreen sizes specifically for that. 20" widescreen works perfect with the 9x12 model. 15"-17" laptops work real well with the 6x8" tablets. It also depends on how you draw too. The longer the brush strokes you take the wider the tablet you buy.
  15. wacom designing

The one you draw on directly to the screen is called the Cintiq 21UX, and its amazing. I was lucky to buy it at an introductory price of $1800 on the first 1,000 units they sold, now they jumped to $2,500 and I need another one...and half of the time they are out of stock. Not sure everyone here...
  16. wacom designing

I loved mine so much (after i got used to it...first few weeks it was baaaadddd lol) that I ended up getting one for each of the production stations and a Cintiq for the one I do the designing on. I could never go back to just a mouse because it would kill my workflow...but the Wacom packages...
  17. Which design program?

I know what you are getting at, but you are still stating it incorrectly. By saying photoshop by itself cannot convert anything to vector is an inaccurate statement. You are saying it cannot process the vector files to cut from a plotter/embroidery etc. Photoshop can however convert, create...
  18. Which design program?

Not really an accurate statement since the CS package was created and even more so CS3 where you can swap back and forth from Illustrator to Photoshop via smart objects. Photoshop exports vector paths either by using the Export function or by selecting the appropriate path via the Path palette...
  19. Which design program?

The graphics industry standard would be geared more towards Adobe's line of products. Corel makes excellent products as well but you should make the decision based on your own personal comfort level with the software titles. Personally for me I spend most of my day using Adobe's products.
  20. Help with font

no offense, but I don't think you are going to find anyone giving you this font. whether the project its for is free or not, it still comes down to licensing and the license for the font is not free.
