  1. Reverse Channel Letters on Corrugated Steel Wall?

i asked Grok to draw me a picture of an S101 sign on a corrugated wall. (twitter/X.com's AI chatbot) takes a little coercion to ask for further details like Reverse Illumination/etc, but its fun to play with. p.s. now that's i've hijacked the thread, Taylor Swift wraps cars between football...
  2. Illustrator Alignment fail.

use the snap alignment feature: youtube vids avail for demonstrations.
  3. Perf Cut Decals Curling

most likely the tension on the laminate spool of your laminator. ever so slightly stretching the laminate before it lays-down onto your print and it wanting to shrink-back. ...especially when it comes to calendared laminates like the 215. If you don't mind mix&matching brands, Grimco's...
  4. Reverse Channel Letters on Corrugated Steel Wall?

i like it. its no secret the wall is corrugated, so why not show it off with some killer deflections? *tip: map out the high spots, 4-6"spacing/etc., and utilize for your mounting pattern so you don't have to jump around between highs/lows or the cursewords that come with having to drill out...
  5. Aluminum Composite vs Aluminum vs Alumalite ??

i wouldn't bother with reflective, as it requires a light source coming from the line of vision to reflect. +1 to simply going with .063/.080.
  6. Hi-tac(?) vinyl with thick adhesive?

3M 8624 will stretch&contour, but the arlon8000 is really just for flat stuff as it's fairly rigid by comparison. if its something permanent and the client wants their mortar lines contoured, then I upgrade to 8624, but if just spanning the mortar lines is acceptable then I'll use the 8000 but...
  7. Hi-tac(?) vinyl with thick adhesive?

its just at the edges of the material, but a good point ...just use a piece of masking tape and dab at the rollers where this occurs after every roll/run. plucks up those goobers like a charm.
  8. first time with 3mIJ280 and it aint working

did you laminate with a conformable laminate like the recommended 8428? ooof, u said it won't stick? have you tried sticking anything else to the surface? ...sometimes people wax their vehicles and it makes it difficult to adhere. no experience with the 280 but it was my understanding that...
  9. Flexible Trim Cap

rereading this a decade later, i'm thinking the OP was referring to them using edge cap for alumacore rather than trim cap for acrylic channel lettering. i may have been mistaken, and went off on a rant about how trimcap flexes to custom shapes pretty well.
  10. Hi-tac(?) vinyl with thick adhesive?

my favorite hitack is arlon dpf8000 stuff is bonkers sticky, but I upgrade to 3M 8624 if I need to contour-wrap mortar lines/etc.
  11. Y Motor/servo motors and maintinance

i know that you can adjust motor current
  12. Anyone know what this feature is in Enroute?

yeah i got mine through Grimco, just assumed it was from whatever inventory remained prior to moving to subscription platform.
  13. Anyone on here get this contract?

    beaurocratic efficiency, even in death.
  14. Anyone know what this feature is in Enroute?

i think it was ~$4k, but i'm not sure if they sell standalone software anymore as all i see are subscription plans now. i only upgrade to the 3D enabled software when i occasionally have a job that requires it, but that was another $100/mo
  15. Anyone on here get this contract?

not me, but hopefully there's a few more quotes looking to be fulfilled!
  16. Anyone know what this feature is in Enroute?

GOT IT! "show intersecting contours" button on the toolbar. idk where it was before, but I reset toolbars to default and it jumped right out at me! shame that SAI couldn't just simply say that this thing existed in their software.
  17. Anyone know what this feature is in Enroute?

aye that's the path i've been searching in the index/search, but it only shows up when i'm overlapping objects, no matter if single or different layers. i'm currently just going through every menu item and checking/unchecking settings at the moment.
  18. Anyone know what this feature is in Enroute?

already tried asking Sai, and despite me purchasing version 6 of Enroute a year ago ....they simply autoreplied with "we no longer support your version, please upgrade to our $150/month subscription software service" ugh. needless to say, I will be exploring my options when it comes time to...
  19. Laminate for single vision

its all in the roll. same as painting a wall. if you just try to breeze-thru and wet everything, you'll see the lines where you rolled but I will usually try to wet my whole ~4'x8' section with an even roll, and then go back over it all over again with a clean or semi-coated roller to blend...
  20. Laminate for single vision

not a fan of sheet laminating perforated vinyl, but if you do I highly recommend an optically clear overlaminate. sheet lam adds foginess to the "view-through" and typically results in imperfect appearance on the image-side, due to the airgap between surface and the clear lam through the perf...
