I have an older, well used Xj-740 to move.
The bad. It's seen better days cosmetically. Knife nicks and cuts. Ink stains, the spindles on the take up reels are worn. So the bolts don't work anymore. We just put in a roll and use clamps to keep rolls locked on. No big deal actually, doesn't...

I recently did a direct to wood (maple ply) on my Agfa UV. No issues. Just has to be flat flat flat.
I've also printed to nice maple veneers with really rich flaming and mounted to mdf.
woodcraft sells the veneers. Came out fantastic.
Can't photoshop the natural finish of wood and have it come...
If you are under warranty demand they fix it. I did this years ago with Roland, they tried 3 times to fix the machine, then replaced with a new unit.
I never had any issues with them not responding as one would expect.
And of course my best client just got word that I left the biz and refuses to send work to my old partner.
$200k worth of work just fell in my lap.
What a roller coaster.
I view the storefront as billboard advertising. Thru networking if they use my business name to friends,colleagues, clients. They have to see my shop at some point and connect the dots.

That is totally my plan. I'd like to do as little production on site as possible. Only enough to meet immediate and rush needs and present a proper production facade. Also I don't want to spend my time in production when I could be networking with people who would send me projects.
