I've seen mixed reviews. All parts are made in China, then chipped here for assembly. I've seen decent prints off it. But nothing spectacular. Not horribly fast. My main concern is their ink supplier and tech support.

Go unidirectional, add a box fan. Other than that look at an infared dryer. Phototex is notoriously slow to dry. Just bought a liquid laminator I intend to use for my phototex work.

Sihl has a few products that work well for us. I'll caution you in advance tho, depending on the art, you need to make sure your print is drying appropriately before using your takeup reel.

Yep, color under diffuses the metallic. Try duotones and playing with the contrast, we have had luck with that on photographic art.

MacTac has a product called Rough wrap specifically for this kind of application.

Anyone have any luck printing CMYKLcLm over silver for a metallic finish on photo/process work. Trying to laydown 100% silver with a screen of the the CMYK file. Any other ideas or techniques besides extensive Photoshop work?

If you notice the buckling when laminating pause in between prints, lift the rollers to release the media tension and drop the rollers back down. It will beging to buckle but rinse and repeat and you will be fine. Just make sure you are inbetween prints or itwill leave a pressure line on you...
