  1. My new Logo/Company name

If you've ever been to Northern California, then you'd understand that "those people up there" are in no way of running off any business by being all tea party/patriot/succeed from the union/start our own state types. They pretty much stick together and will shop at each other's establishments...
  2. My new Logo/Company name

Logos are hard, especially one's own logo. Takes real thought and planning. Many stages of development. Hashing and re-hashing. Getting other's opinions is sometimes very helpful.
  3. Looking for a vinyl with the clarity of tint

I think you are just going to have to have this done by a professional tinter. One who knows how to deal with http://www.coloredfilms.com
  4. My new Logo/Company name

No, there are at least a dozen other fonts that have the same look and feel, but aren't trying to mimic the NASA font. Just keep searching the fonts. (DaFont under SciFi is a good start to hunt for a match) And if it's your "Sign" for your business, then you should make it your Logo. If you...
  5. I know you guys will get this immediatly

    I know... it's sickening, right?
  6. Banner 4 Disproportionate measurement

Sounds like your printer doesn't know exactly where the print head is at full speed. I'd clean both encoder strips. The one on the media feed roller on the left side of the machine is often neglected.
  7. My new Logo/Company name

How about the double XX thing and call yourself XXTreme Signz!
  8. My new Logo/Company name

There are already plenty of Nor-Cal Signs around. I used to own a business there. I know it's not really a "U"... just never been a fan of that font. Or any font that mixes upper case with lower case. There are some quirky, hipster, eco type exceptions. But for a sign shop, typography and...
  9. Vinyl Lettering/Graphics

675 signs totaling $138k? Please don't tell me this is for a Nigerian pastor. :ROFLMAO: That's crazy! I want a sign job like that!
  10. My new Logo/Company name

Is that an upside down "U"?
  11. Vinyl Lettering/Graphics

Pricing calculator or fancy software not needed. Do you have a regular calculator? On your phone perhaps?
  12. Pricing help. First time pricing this big of a project

Show them chrome... and show them a sample of your faux gradient. I'm guessing that your printer probably isn't dialed in perfectly, so your gradient will probably have a magenta or greenish cast to it.
  13. New printer recommendations?

I've had Mutoh, Roland and Mimaki over the years. (All of them piezo electric printheads made by Epson) Thermal or Bubble Jet printheads have never had good life expectancy. Which is why HP has them as a throw away item that just goes into the landfill. I'm currently building my own UV cure...
  14. Pricing help. First time pricing this big of a project

That's about $16.50 per sq. ft. With install being separate, that's good. And if you do in fact use regular cast black vinyl as the under base. But I don't see the need for a faux metallic gradient. Why can't you just use metallic silver or that new flexible chrome stuff instead of wasting ink...
  15. (Any Good?) Canon imagePROGRAF iPF8100, 44"

The main 3 brands are just fine. They basically all use the same formulation of ink and same print heads. (because of the Epson Ink Tax) They each have their own pluses and minuses. But I can tell you from hard earned experience that 40" is waaay too small for the things you are talking about...
  16. Clear for flatbed printed dibond

Golf clubs come standard with your Realtor® upgrade license now. What's that they teach them in real estate agent classes? You've got to fake it to make it!
  17. Clear for flatbed printed dibond

Tell them to buy a can of clear Krylon and to just spray them as they hang them. Not worth your time or trouble. If they had used you in the beginning, you'd have taken care of it, and made sure they started out with a decent product in the first place.
  18. Need advice on my shop's van wrap....

Too busy... too many words. And who cares about Avery and 3M? The public won't give that any additional credence whether to use you or some other shop. And the stuff on a slant is sooo overused and not a great design element. Plus there was some slant stuff mixed right next to some straight...
  19. (Any Good?) Canon imagePROGRAF iPF8100, 44"

Great printer... if you are only intending on printing posters and other paper type prints FOR INDOOR USE ONLY. The ink is aqueous and will not adhere to industry standard vinyl. Yes, there is a vinyl or two that has a special coating that will allow the ink to stick, but the coating is very...
  20. Looking for Glow in the dark Vinyl

It's not like it's a hot commodity here. It expensive and has very limited usage. You should order some from that supplier. They only required a 10 sq meter minimum purchase. The one use that has good commercial, (albeit limited in scope) is anything to do with blacklights. Like a rave/party...
