I've had printers in the past (Canon and Epson aqueous) where I could use a chip resetter to keep using the maintenance cartridge even after the printer said it was "full". At one shop we even took the cotton out of the cartridge and stuffed it with maxi pads so that we could keep reusing it...
I've been a big fan of HPs new vinyl (Prime Matte Air specifically). It's thick enough you don't have to laminate, there's no branding, it works great on their machines, it's air egress and still cheap.
Are you talking about the Stitch printers?
I've been interested in learning more about those, especially since they advertise that it can print directly to fabric or transfer paper. The only caveat is that printing direct to fabric is for "short runs only" and who knows what that means.
Im still somewhat new to latex printing, but I have an HP 560 and we've been printing a lot of fabric for a company that manufactures custom sound absorption panels. (It's kind of like printing canvases that are going to be stretched on 2in deep frames, with the largest standard size being close...
I was running into issues with it at point, but after having similar issues with several other medias as well I figured out the problem was the humidity levels in the area fluctuating so much (east coast summers are Swamp City, USA). I set up a dehumidifier next to my rolls of media/printer...
I ordered a roll of the 3258 matte to print contour cut stickers on. I used an HP 560 and was actually pretty disappointed with the image quality.
Even after a printhead alignment and optimizer calibration I was getting random "blurry" areas on areas with simple line detail or text unless I...
Thanks for all the good input!
This was a perfect storm of nothing being easy during my first time trying something – the media was tunneling (I cranked the heat way down and it helped, but didnt fix it), then I had a weird printer glitch and lost a foot of media and didnt have enough to print...
This is my first time printing window perf and, of course, its for a deadline job due tomorrow and I have installers scheduled.
My rep suggested Clear Focus Econovue because its cheap and they sell it in 25' rolls.
Im printing on an HP 560 and within the first several feet its tunneling /...
Im using Illustrator for setup and a Summa S2 T160.
It's my first time working with a cutter (we just invested in buying signage equipment less than 6 months ago. Before that I was just doing giclee prints.) so Im still on a learning curve.
Simple shapes are a breeze but Im realizing that...
Im trying to figure out how to "optimize" contour cut lines, hopefully without much trial-and-error.
For instance, I know a path with excessive anchor points and details isn't going to look as nice – or cut as quickly – as a smooth path with minimal angles.
Are there rules of thumb or some...
we recycle all of our consumable parts like that through Konica Minolta's clean planet program. They take parts from any printer regardless of the make or manufacturer and they have the option of a prepaid label for your own packaging, boxes with prepaid labels already attached, or full size...
Since we also do digital and offset printing we get questions like this alllll the time.
We've started to enjoy just coming up with exorbitant prices just so we don't have to deal with the classic
"y'all do business cards? how much?"
when we ask what quantity they want -
"uhhh idk like 50?"...
I think that's what I'm going to do on my second attempt.
My main problem/question is how to deal with the corners themselves. How do I cut and fold the vinyl so that there are clean edges and no obvious lumps from overlapped edges?
We use EFIs PrintSmith for all of our digital and offset work. Since we recently invested in our wide format dept. we're only starting to plug in all the info so we can really utilize everything it's capable of.
It's the only MIS software I've used so far. It definitely plenty of quirks and...
I've never really done a vinyl wrap before, but I'm helping a client wrap some wood-grain printed vinyl around a retail shelf as a prototype of sorts. The shelf is really just a 48x10x1 plank of MDO with white veneer.
I thought it was going to be like wrapping a present (which Im proudly very...
We're a small commercial print shop, so we have customers with digital and offset orders as well as wide format. We're constantly having to let customers know that their order is ready, reminding them to come pick it up, updating them on the status, etc.
Its a pain in the arse to make the same...
I cant really say anything about quantity because this is just a general how-to question. I'd just like to have some tricks up my sleeve so I dont have to turn away the people that order one-offs.
The trouble I've run into with only outsourcing the cutting is that the closest business (that...
How do you all deal with custom cut/contour cut rigid displays if you don't have a flatbed cutter?
i.e. lifesize marketing cut-outs, "bobble heads", types of jobs that dont require a router over a knife.
Sometimes we can cut things out by hand, but for when thats not feasible I'm wondering if...
Brand new. I think it looks cloudy because its coated paper and not a vinyl/synthetic material. Its also been moved around a lot at this point because who really has a flat surface that they aren't using :)
I also forget what settings used for that print. It was my first time using this...
Magic EcoBlock, LexJet satin poster paper (same as HP premium poster paper), HP satin wrapping paper, and LexJet production display film (2 sided smooth pet) all show the scuffs the worst, but they're visible on release liners of other materials as well.
I measured the space between the scuffs...
