So after further inspecting the spindle locking system, i found that one of the wheels that keeps the actual spindle from falling out of the locking system was out of place. The wrinkles are vertical to the rollers and they begin as they come out of the rollers. Its definitely not being caused by the platen. We have been using the take up reel but stopped in hopes of being able to pull the material taught at sight of wrinkles. That hasn't worked out too well either...

Well we updated the settings and still running into head-strikes. Even tried a new profile from HP with no luck.

How do you change the input tension?

Yes the material is flat when first loaded. But once printing begins it tend to wrinkle in the middle.
