  1. Lighting from ground ?

Thanks everyone for the help. I finally found a local lighting supplier for the lamps. Nothing fancy, PAR 38 bulbs and sealed sockets, cast aluminium and picket. The heat from the lamps melts the snow in winter so no need to dig around. Cheers

  3. Lighting from ground ?

Hi guys, I am looking for tips on selecting lamps for illuminating a 6' (wide) x 4' (tall) sign that will be installed just above ground. It's for a condo building. I would install the lamps on the ground, just in front of it. Where to get these ? what is the appropriate power needed ? can...
  4. Giant ice cream cone

Thanks everyone for being so helpful! The client seems to have backed out, it seems they found a ready made solution imported from Italy!!:help Anyways, it sounds like a fun little project, so we have decided to make one anyways as a proof of concept, and hopefully start selling them by the...

  7. Giant ice cream cone

It will be mounted on a center post and completely 3d. I like this design: I thought of rolling a piece of foam to create the cone. And maybe sculpting a polystyrene ball and adding canned foam (Right Stuf) to add some ice cream over it. Not sure is this kind of foam is very durable...
  8. Giant ice cream cone

Hi, I'm looking for a cheap way to make a 3D ice cream cone measuring 4' high. It's the kind with the wafle cone and hard ice cream. I can have a large styrofoam ball to start, but not sure how to go about the rest.. It will go outside during summer, will not be illuminated. Anyone has ideas...

  10. Installing alucobond on brick

This may sound like a rookie question, but I really don't want a sign falling on someone's head. I will be cnc routing the 3-part white sign on the top of the building. I think the best way to install it is horizontal 2x2 aluminum angles on the wall, matched with other ones on the back of the...
  11. Accepting credit cards ?

I would undestand if I got a lot of individual clients, no one carries his checkbook with him. But most of my clients are companies and are used to pay by check. It still is the most popular means of payment in business-to-business transactions around here. I've started to asked my existing...

  14. Accepting credit cards ?

I'm in Canada, so the price may be a bit more for that reason. The fee is 39$ per month for the rental of a wireless terminal, plus 10$ for the cell phone connection.
  15. Accepting credit cards ?

I'm looking at getting a credit card terminal. I am thinking of it as a way to get paid fast by first time customers, for small jobs, or for deposits on a large job. I usually ask for payment upon delivery/installation for new clients, but sometimes they don't have a check ready and say they'll...

  17. Protecting small vector cut letters

Hi guys, I am preparing aluminum parking signs using vector cut graphics. Each has a logo on it containing very small letters (.25 wide x 0.4 high ). What do you recommend I do to protect the smaller text ? I heard there is a spray-on clearcoat that goes over vinyl graphics for that purpose...
  18. Repairing clear acrylic ?

:-( I tried with epoxy but the surface wasn't smooth enough. We can clearly see the shape of the fixed area through the acrylic... If it had been opaque or painted, it would be perfect. At least I tried. Am re-cutting the piece right now. Thanks Artbot.
  19. Repairing clear acrylic ?

Hi guys, Is there a way to repair a chip in a clear acrylic piece so it "disappears" ? I was thinking a something like the UV setting resin that is used in windshield repairs..
