  1. T-shirts???

If you are going to do any value-aded stuff like apply names/letters to textiles then I strongly urge you to spend the extra $$ for a swing-away model. Wish someone had told me that before buying our first press.
  2. Vintage Clipart Mason

Dover first, Beeline second. You should find it.
  3. deer blind sheer

What's wrong with Tyvek for the blind? It's strong, rip proof, weatherproof, durable, very light weight making easily portable (roll it on a tube) and will block wind...plus its cheap.
  4. FLAAR report on SEPIAX Ink

According to the folks at GO, they will be selling heater retrofits for various makes and models of machines that could use their Sepiak inks. If they do, and do so reasonably, that would be a huge plus. Whether they will and whether they will be sucessful has yet to be determined.
  5. Legal advice, somebody ripped off my design.

binki, you make it sound so simple. And it can be if all the i's are dotted and the t's are crossed. Small Claims Court, while liberal when it comes to the applying the rules and the latitude extended, the state and its Courts and the Bar have do have Rules of Procedure that have to be adhered...
  6. Legal advice, somebody ripped off my design.

Rather than argue over mis-informed posts regarding Small Claims Court (a.k.a People's Court) let me say that there are some decent and inexpensive manuals that cover that. Nolo Press publishing comes to mind and they should be perused prior to filing. Winning is 10% of the battle...
  7. Gemini Letters on Steel Siding

My first-ever Gemini install was using rails and it was pleasing in apperance. I am a bit persnickety and I was satisfied and my client loved it. It had to be perfect and esthetically pleasing because the sign was for my union local building and it reflects our craft. I made my own rails...
  8. Legal advice, somebody ripped off my design.

Actually, registration takes place the moment it arrives at the Copyright Office. It can take quite a while to get your registration certificate back. There are procedures (and fees) to expedite the process.
  9. Trademark Protection...humorous

As Mike states: you can't make this stuff up. http://therawfeed.com/pork-group-threatens-thinkgeek-over-unicorn-m And all these years I was lead to believe that Manatee was the "other white meat"...lol.
  10. For Web sellers

Cleaning out some accumulated e-mail I came across this. "You may have heard me tell this story on the show. I was having trouble getting an appointment with my hair stylist. As it turned out, she got over 750 new customers in one day. How?" "She was the deal of the day at a Web site called...
  11. Legal advice, somebody ripped off my design.

I have to agree with the data Dan posted...with a caveat. It could be all that and then some. It is case-specific in that who said and did what and was there a meeting of the minds, etc. In other words was there a contract real or implied? Then we have Dowling...
  12. Fonts can become malicious.

This just came across my desk via e-mail so I thought I'd pass it on FWIW. New threats to TrueType and OpenType fonts Normally, fonts are nice, well-behaved code that allow you to read content on your computer more easily. Now, even fonts can be used by hackers to take control of...
  13. How to repair PVC (Komacell)

Back in the "old days" when Bondo was used for virtually all things with voids and dents the old timers as well as the instructions would say to drill a few holes so as the stuff had some place to really grip. With soft stuff like that you could 'drill' with a tap and turn the hardened filler...
  14. Legal advice, somebody ripped off my design.

As to registration. A few years back we were doing layouts and sketches with the thought of printing them on various substrates (shirts, decals and the like) and wholesale marketing them. We'd take a month's worth of productivity, stick them on a CD and register the entire portfolio as an...
  15. Legal advice, somebody ripped off my design.

I know what you are saying but that isn't exactly correct. It is incident specific. All I can do is tell you to reference "thin copyright." In a nutshell, I can take some client provided pictures/graphics (which they own or have license for); use suggested type styles, color schemes, etc...
  16. Legal advice, somebody ripped off my design.

Yes it is an IP case because SCOTUS said so in Dowling and a few other cases. But I agree with you...this should be a "theft" case. Better put it should fall into the realm of Theft By Conversion. The definition of Theft By Conversion is....TbC occurs when someone wrongfully uses property or...
  17. Legal advice, somebody ripped off my design.

One more note to the OP. In order to get statutory damages as well as lawyer fees, etc. you must register the work before commencing suit. Reasonable lawyer fees are not automatic in that the award is in the hand of and the discretion of the judge but it is rare when they are not awarded...
  18. Legal advice, somebody ripped off my design.

Right... what ever you say mr. I have a PHD in law. All I can tell you is to read the law. States courts, at any level, have ZERO JURISDICTION in any IP matter. You can circumvent that a bit by claiming theft or suing for an unpaid invoice, etc. but you cannot walk into your local county...
  19. Legal advice, somebody ripped off my design.

Because that is federal law...and has been for about 30 years, give or take. I believe it was the 1976 amendment to the Copyright Law that solidified exclusive jurisdiction to the federal court system...it may have been even earlier. No time to search for an exact date. The law was sweeping in...
