Hope you catch the bastard(s). I've had 3-4 break-ins and nothing has ever been recovered (laptop, couple of trailers, petty cash).
  5. What do you wear to work?

--Warm weather = cargo shorts and company t shirts. Sometimes embroidered company polo. --Cold weather = cargo pants and company embroidered hoodie. I have light-weight ones and heavy-weight ones.
  6. Worst sign I've seen in a while

You don't have to zoom to see how crappy that lettering job is.

Rack. I ordered a new printhead and various other parts from Kent at 10 a.m on a Sat. morning. They arrived the next business day. He also gave me a Signs101 discount. I will never buy parts for my JV3 anywhere else.
  8. New Mimaki JV33 130 for $6.000

Customs, etc., isn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. Before I found my JV3, I considered getting a JV33-160 from a friend of a friend in China. It was less than a year old and still under warranty, and it seems like they were asking ~ $13K for it. Shipping, customs, taxes and everything...
  9. Do I need to start looking online for a new head?

Thanks to everyone in this thread and on this site. I replaced the bad head, all 8 dampers and all 8 ribbon cables several weeks ago. I took my time. Aside from being a nervous wreck doing this for the first time, all went very well. Thank you so much to Kent at MacMedia. He's a merchant member...
  10. Cabinet Lamps...Stupid Question

You want to get High Output lamps. You'll have two choices: daylight or cool white. If you aren't replacing all the lamps, make sure they match.
  11. Changing a print head on Roland SC-540

You can do it. I recently bought a Mimaki JV3 and had zero experience working on them. Two weeks later I had replaced all the caps and pump tubes, all 8 dampers and a printhead. Get yourself a maintenance manual. Be careful and take your time.
  12. Flashing Arrow Portable Signs

Call Charlie at Nationwide Sign and Letter Co. (270) 843-0333. He's based out of Bowling Green KY, but has a regular route delivering them to OH, PA and other states. Maybe he will be in your area soon. The signs from Sam's Club are very poorly-built IMO.
  13. Aurora graphics

I think Fred just pwned Aurora Graphics.
  14. Head strikes on Banner - Suggestions?

I have a question about head height. I recently installed oversized dampers on my JV3-160sp. Because the new dampers are so much taller than the old ones, my head height lever no longer fits. Without the lever, I'm guessing I can raise the carriage as high as it will go for the "thick" setting...
  15. This makes me sick to my stomach

I'd like to see him try to sue over "message board" libel. :ROFLMAO: I hope he does it. He'd have to print 500 banners just to pay his attorney fees.
  16. This makes me sick to my stomach

SakeKampai, By "their" customers you mean "your" customers, right? Lowballer.
  17. Temporary one-sided sign

Most temporary building site signs I do are 10 mm coroplast. You can install them cheaply with three fenceposts from your local farm store. Builders want to save money by installing themselves much of the time.
  18. Do I need to start looking online for a new head?

Where can I find a 50x scope for adjusting the head? I've gathered about everything else. I'm hoping to get one locally that doesn't cost a fortune. What do you guys use?
