  1. Magnetics & double-sided tape

Hey all. On the subject of magnetic sheet, I use the stuff for changeable message systems a fair bit. Every now and then I get a request to make up a larger sign for a steel message panel, out of coroplast or similar, that I stick leftover magnetic strips on. What I need is advice on a...
  2. Covering large windows with vinyl. Safe?

Whoa! Never even thought about this issue. I've never put large areas of coloured vinyl on window glass before but I've done a lot of Etch Lite film work. That never caused any issues, knock on wood. Only issue we ever had was bored bar patrons waiting for cabs that would pick at the etch...
  3. Oracal 651, Work as Dry Erase?

Everything I've tried, including two part epoxy specialty dry erase paint, fails in outdoor applications. The UV just seems to cure the ink into the surface, especially red. I don't do them anymore.
  4. Post Painting?

Any acrylic or latex stain will breathe.
  5. Post Painting?

Hi there. I've had the green bleed through light colours on pressure treated posts, but it shouldn't be a problem with black. How about solid hide stain in black? You could skip the priming step. My bigger problem with these treated posts is that when they do dry out, they check like...
  6. Shop tables

4x8. Build them yourself--sturdy enough to support your own weight if you need to hop up there. Beauty is irrelevant. Functionality is key. Masonite top over plywood, replace the masonite when it gets too ratty. And locking castors, god, yeah. --mal

  9. Carved horse riding toy.

Now that's a beauty!!! I have a folder on my desktop full of various antique rockinghorse pics, plus a couple of books on the subject. One of these days I'll be brave enough to try making one. --mal
  10. Anyone make Spindles for staircase?

Re the spindles, check out any architectural salvage places within a decent drive. You won't find a better match than with material that's contemporary to your stairs. Out here in Eastern Ontario I haunt several places to outfit my old house, and I never go home disappointed or empty...

  14. Carved horse riding toy.

These are really neat projects. I've got a spring horse, minus springs and frame, that I've been working on. He was sitting in the trash, waiting for the truck to come and crush him, and I couldn't stand that idea, so I snatched him. Since he's spent his life in unfailing servitude to...
