You are always supposed to roll vinyl outward, the same way it comes off the roll. The best way I've found to ship is in triangle or square boxes, loosely unfurled inside the box.
Actually, if you are just interested in a plotter, Ioline possibly has the best, well made plotters on the market. They are made in USA, and they guarantee 150 foot tracking. Wanna make your own perfectly equal width pinstripes? Ioline SmartTrac!
The proper industry standard for output is to supply an .eps first, a .pdf second and then a .tif file in that order. It's how I ask for artwork. If the designer doesn't know what an .eps file is or how important they are, I try not to bother to educate them. Not worth my time to sound like a...
I will never be able to justify another monthly expense. Even if it's "Just $50". When does it stop? I'm still reeling from paying full price for the creative suite of CS5 and I intend to keep right on using it. I've always stuck with their odd numbered updates. So I'm never going to CS6. Now...
As soon as mine arrives (in about a week) and I have it set-up and put through the paces, I'll be posting a complete breakdown of what I bought, how I got it and why.
I too have evolved into a design studio, branding and advertising. ecomouse.org It's way more fun. I get to pick and choose my clients. I spend more time doing nothing, while still getting paid to do it. (Thanks to well written retainer agreements)
I have decided that I don't need resolutions...
It's hand drawn. Like using a stylus on a tablet. I recognize the "lace" part as the way I write cursive, looks just like my handwriting. (Which I almost never do)
Two methods... Killer Red Tape from Bron and instead of silicone we use Lexel (Waaaay better than silicone) It's clearer and you can paint it, plus it sticks way better and won't tear. Can be applied in wet conditions! I learned about the stuff from seasoned channel letter installers.
Most glass on those types of doors is approximately 31" x 72"
I think your drawing of the door is just fine. Although you could add a bit more detail. I have a couple of standard window fronts that I went through the trouble of illustrating so I can use for copy/paste proofs. Most other times I...
I have the same plotter. It's a workhorse. But yeah, it's so old that you will not find it in many supported listings. I also design in Illustrator. (But I'm not giving Adobe any money per month for a cloud based software)
Anyway, I cut out of SignCut. It's not directly supported in the list...
Honestly, I'd ask your supplier if they would be willing to provide you with a sample. Make your "showpiece" out of that, and get used to the process. And if you like the sample you can order. Maybe even work out a deal with the supplier that you will make them a sample acrylic piece as well so...
Ever see a Peter Lik or Rodney Lough print at one of those art galleries? Optically clear mounting adhesive with Durst Lambda fuji film. Printing on clear vinyl sucks by comparison. Yes, we do the clear vinyl as a shortcut a lot around here, but that particular client's visual needs are far less...
Optically Clear won't silver, and secondly apply dry meant running the prints with the optically clear on first like you are laminating the graphic. Through a mounter or laminator. Then apply the print to the acrylic like you are mounting the regular way. Again, through a mounter or laminator...
Yes, I've done this before too. Here's what you do to make it go faster. Bolt your grommet punch to a table, and then build up a work surface table that is as high as the lower grommet die. Make this table twice as large (wide) as the signs you will be punching. If you have a bunch of 24" x18"...
The stuff most likely came from overseas, and would cost a fortune to send it back. The factory will probably gave him credit on his next order. It's not whining, he's a merchant member here and this is his way of letting people know that he's got one heckuva deal on some paper product...
Cavet Emptor applies here. It did say it was used. Probably a good reason why it was sold on fleaBay "As Is"
I'm sure it's fixable however. Just make sure you use a decent square against the full length of the blade guide.
Also, when trimming prints and stuff like that... you should never rely...
