Pete, I'm right down the road from you in Pattenburg. I'd be happy to fix it if you buy the parts. You'll need Captops and a Damper. What's happened is the sponge in the Cap has expanded out and "wicked" the yellow and magenta. Each color ink is traveling down and back up into the other side of...
  2. sp-54 job canceling

Your computer may be timing out because of the length of the job. I've seen it once or twice where the computer thinks nobody is using it while it's sending the job, then goes on power save. Is your screen saver coming up when it cancels?
  3. What Causes This?????

I agree with Prism's line of thought, if it's not the media, the dampers may have to be changed.
  4. Roland SC545ex Help

Usually a blown head fuse is because of a short on the print head itself. If it is a short, it will happen again
  5. Roland VP-540

Are all the cuts shifted by the same amount? If so , do a print cut calibration. Explain in some more detail whats happeneing please.
  6. Print & Cut

There are a couple of adjustments that have to be done for accurate cutting. Unfortunately, the user calibrations are not as exact as in the service menu. I can say however, i've never encountered an SP i was not able to get back in step, so all hope is not lost. A wire tension adjustment and...
  7. Flexi 8.6v1 Cutter options disapearing act???

I'm assuming that the Add Setup was done correctly and the drivers etc. are just not taking. Make sure that your cutter is selected in the Rip and Print and you are using the PM settings. You'll see that tab come up from time to time that will ask you to use default (Machine) or PM (RIP)...
  8. need info to decide between roland and graphtec

Granted, yes, the Roland line of cutters are not as high performance, they also do not incure the cost as the more professional machines do. Yes, the CE Graphtec series is better in every category than the Roland...and cheaper, it does not blow it out of the water. The FC and Summa cutters...
  9. Pump trouble maybe?!!!

There is also a proceedure in the service menu, to change how it pulls the ink called system switch. It should probably be done by a tech, if your pump is really going. Artie, I know for a fact that you have an upgraded pump and the system switch was done..
  10. AH...I Blew A Fuse in my SP540V

Can't see anything wrong with that. The RS-640 is an awesome machine. Though i do notice that you have to clean the reflective strip on the platen from overspray every once in a while to read the media width correctly. Also, make sure that your design software can lay down Graphtec crop marks...
  11. AH...I Blew A Fuse in my SP540V

If you replace the main board, there is still the issue of the power supply (If that is it). Have them bring both, And test. The main board should be replaced by an experienced tech as all your parameters are saved and need to be transfered from there. You absolutely do not need a new print head...
  12. AH...I Blew A Fuse in my SP540V

After the tech changes the fuse or whole board, try printing. The printhead should be fine. the fuse stopped any over current from going forward. Your power supply may be malfunctioning, or a power surge or brown out could have blown the fuse. We had a couple today in NJ from all this wind! How...
  13. I need help with head adjustment

There is so much to go through to get this manual adjustment right, definitely too much to go through on a forum. If a service tech replaced them, can you get him to come back out and complete the job? A new head doesn't mean much if it's not aligned properly.
  14. what are different graphics softwares available?

Corel is a very popular one for smaller signs, though the workspace permitted can hamper larger jobs. I like the Flexi family software for an all in one type of program.

Fieldcenter is a member here who can fill you in on all you need to know on the after market ink
  17. 4all, what is the best?

I've had the same issue before with the roland media thing. Your trying to help a customer with a feed or print issue... and happen to mention a 3rd party media..BLAMO. No help. I can dig what your saying, but the point is, your pouring something that roland has no control over in their machine...
  18. 4all, what is the best?

Non-roland inks will void the warranty. I'm sure Roland did its research to not violate any laws. Would you swap out a processor on your computer, then expect it to be covered for defects? I think most will agree that third party is risky business while uner warranty.
  19. 4all, what is the best?

The best Roland machine in my op. is the VP-print and cut. Two year warranty aside, if you maintain it correcly, there is no reason it won't last you 4 years before the first minor problem. The SP's were riddled with little quirks and would be my next to last choice being.....anything other than...
  20. Help. Can not open port

If you are outputing from Flexi, is your printer still set up in the Production manager and is the IP correct? If from Versaworks, select the printer settings tab then the same in the menu, hit verify and see if it connects then. Are you hooked up to the internet via wireless?
