  1. Rant: how little others care about appearance

I have dealt with both trades..... Degrees and licensing don't mean squat. One can be drunk for the total duration of their university years and still get a degree. Licenses can be bought.
  2. Rant: how little others care about appearance

...Scary thing is there are probably similar discussions going on in architecture and engineering forums...
  3. Clipping Mask, Compound mask

Crop your picture in Photoshop 4x and import them back in Illy. I don't think you can do what your asking in Illustrator. It doesn't "separate" the picture in 4 parts even if you have 4 clipping masks.

  8. CNC Router

Yes, what SignManiac said plus what do you want to do with it? That will determine what options you want. After that, it will be much easier to answer what is the best router for you. For now, All I can answer is: "That depends..." Cheers!
  9. Architectual drawings, Plot, or Print?

+1 for print. Plotting it would require that you redo the whole thing in vector!
  10. Creasing Wheel on Multicam Digital Express

I have been playing with creasing wheels for a while now on our Zund. I wish I could tell you exactly what's what... but I am not having great results myself! For one, Zund has 18 different wheels for different types of cardboard/paper/plastics. And two, you need paper/cardboard that's...
  11. "Ultraboard" substitution

Hi guys, I'm looking for a foam board type material to replace the 1/2" Ultraboard we are using right now. More specifically, I'm looking for something cheaper than the 1/2" Ultraboard we are using right now! We use it to cut big letters on our Zund. We proposed regular foam board, but the...

  14. Cutting Sintra

one pass with the up cut, leave .025" on the bottom(Don't break thru) and .025" on the wall. Finish with the downcut. Upcut will evacuate chip better, Downcut will leave a cleaner edge on top. If it's very small part.... Transfer tape on the back, Spray "3M Super 77" or equivalent glue on the...
  15. Does anyone have a CNC Plasma cutter?

Yeah! thats a lot of blanks! I don't think you can do that on a cnc router, at least not economically. For sure, water jet leaves a better finished edge. Maybe a sheer is what you need.
  16. Does anyone have a CNC Plasma cutter?

We don't have a plasma cutter ourselves. When we need metal fab, we call this guy: http://rsprecision.ca/indexEN.html They are in Gatineau. Hope this is helpful...

  19. Durabond... any experience

Do you mean 2 aluminum faces laminated on styrene or PVC (Dibond, ePanel, etc)? If so, there not much you can do with the existing sign. Once this material is bent or kinked, you will never bring it back. We buy this stuff (ePanel) by the skid load. Usually, we build a frame out of 4x4s 2x4s...
