  1. Issue in Illustrator

If your file is all vector, something's wrong. If you have effects like Drop Shadows, blur, etc, The more you have, the more everything's going to lag. Add a raster image in there, things can grind to pretty much a alt. I have the same setup at home, running CS6 and never had a problem.
  2. Cutting HDPE Plastic on a CNC Router

:thumb: If this forum had a "Like" button... I'd click it!
  3. Cutting HDPE Plastic on a CNC Router

Material melting: slow the rpm down or increase cutting speed. Up or downcut, just make sure you have a proper bit for the material. Not all bits are good in all materials, some are specific to aluminum, some to plastics and some to wood. Consider making a rough and finishing pass. Uneven...
  4. Multicam - Does anyone have??

I totally agree! We just bought a Zund... Tech guys are assembling it as we speak. We have a Multicam also. Two completely different beasts. I'm sure the Zund will fly thru vinyl, Coro, Pvc with no problem but in no way will it handle Plywood, MDF, Aluminum like the Multicam does.
  5. Multicam - Does anyone have??

I've been searching long and hard for a decent CNC blog also... with no success. They are all guys with homemade CNCs in the back of their garage. There's about one new post a week. It seem's knowledgeable CNC techs want to keep their secrets for themselves. Actually, CNC info here on S101 is...
  6. Multicam - Does anyone have??

I cannot vouch for Multicam USA... We get service from Multicam Quebec. Of all the machines we have here, By far Multicam Quebec have the best support. One of their technician actually came in on a Sunday once to get us out of a jam. And once, another technician drove 8 hours through a major...
  7. Cutting Magnets on a CNC.

Downcut endmill, same as you'd use for cutting acrylic, pvc... same feed/speed also. I've done it this way many times...
  8. CNC height detector

That's some mighty cheap *** acrylic you got there if the variation in thickness varies up to .5mm. That's .019". That's way outside most manufacturer tolerances. Personally, I'd return that crap and get decent acrylic. My guess is your table is not flat or the material is not laying flat on...
  9. Way to go, if ya ask me...........................

Do you think there's a post on a roofing forum that reads "I went to this sign shop to get some signage for my business...."
  10. CNC Contour Cut

Yes, Belin or Onsrud... not much difference between 'em! Personally, I'd be weary of your custom bits. A lot of engineering goes into making endmills: Angle of the cutting edge, angle of the front and back edge of the cutting edge, relief behind the cutting edge, etc... It's not the same for a...
  11. CNC Contour Cut

For sure, a downcut endmill will help with the print fraying. It's got to be a brand spanking new bit thought...
  12. CNC Contour Cut

Yes, I think your best option is to repeat the images and cut paths and set up your registration marks in a "drawing" software. I do this all the time. Unless you can export your cut paths from your rip as a dxf or dwg. Most cnc software will accept an .eps vector file.

  14. Need Help getting perfect radius corners with Sabre 408

+1 for changing the start point. Also, I'm not familiar with your router but, have it "ramp" in at an angle instead of having the tool plunge straight down in the material. And like MikePro said, do it in two passes leaving something like .025" for the finishing pass. And don't go through the...

  16. Recent Work

Hi guys, Finally, things are slowing down somewhat around here. We have been in high gear since February... I haven't been here on S101 since it changed look. Anyway, other than the dreadful usual banner stand, pop-ups, bus panels and banners, we have done some fun stuff: 1- if you live in...
  17. Interlocking hanger

Yeah, I thought about using french cleats. I'm keeping them in mind if I can't find what I'm looking for. The reason I wan't to use something like the picture is this platform will be taken apart every winter for storage and rebuilt every spring. With bracket similar to those pictured...
  18. Interlocking hanger

I'm consulting the vast knowledge base here on Signs101 to see if someone knows where I might find something similar this product. Basically, I'm looking for something exactly like the images here, but bigger and stronger. We are building a big version of a board game (32' x 32'). So, it's...

  20. Scale artwork in Illustrator based on single object

Tammie, you're a genius! I get this problem often and never thought of doing it that way! :notworthy:
