  1. Discussion Forget Tariffs, what about a Pandemic?

Most healthcare professionals have always advised people to turn your face and cough or sneeze into your bicep shirt sleeve, creating some distance between it and my hand in case it's not convenient to immediately wash your hands. The chaos factor this outbreak has the potential to create is...
  2. Methods to remove painted lettering

Oh no........ 14 years on a dark color? Even under the best conditions, there is going to be some ghosting and fading to deal with. Good luck to them and hope for the best.
  3. Methods to remove painted lettering

I'm not sure if any of the citrus based strippers will work, but it's worth a try on a very small area. I'd highly recommend that he or she do it out of direct sun pretest to find out what will work best.
  4. Need Help Anyone knows a really good adhesive

We take VHB and cut chunks or small pieces to fit and that usually is more than sufficient for small letters. If larger than 3-4" tall and with a medium or bolder font weight, we'll use a combination of VHB and LEXEL high strength adhesive.
  5. Discussion Forget Tariffs, what about a Pandemic?

Not sure how firing top officials in the CDC Infectious disease department in 2018 and NOT replacing them as well as an 80% reduction in the CDC's International epidemic fighting program is being "uncharacteristically proactive and effective" but hopefully we're no so caught up in our bias that...
  6. Discussion Forget Tariffs, what about a Pandemic?

All I want to know is when is Dustin Hoffman showing up to save the day?
  7. Discussion Forget Tariffs, what about a Pandemic?

Your post was 25 days ago. The depth and spread of this virus as well as the broader impacts have risen exponentially as well as the obvious of the signals being sent that our "leadership" in Washington DC is completely out of touch with the threat or creating workable solutions.
  8. Die Cut Stickers on Roland VG 540?

    Here you go.
  9. What paint for PVC?

For jobs just like you've described where the client's budget or longevity expectation doesn't fit with the cost of Gemini letters, we've had really good luck with Benjamin Moore Super Spec, industrial enamel. We prime the PVC with Insl-x brand STIX primer, then spray on the Super Spec. It flows...
  10. Discussion Forget Tariffs, what about a Pandemic?

Who cares, the stock market is booming.
  11. Discussion Installed ACM Price Check

Denco is our "local" supplier ( over 2 hours drive away ). 4'x8' - 5 yr - 3mm CompBond brand is: $59 / 4'x10' - 5 yr - 3mm CompBond brand is: $73 Despite living and working in one of THE most expensive areas in our state, we struggle with the same dilemma the OP encounters all the time and...
  12. ‘Double sided’ banners

We use this on those pole pocket connections and it seems to hold far better than standard banner tape. https://www.sign-mart.com/banner-ups-megatape.html
  13. ‘Double sided’ banners

If We're not doing the full coverage adhesive method for longer lasting banners, we run a strip of banner tape vertically along the edges and one down the middle that helps flatten everything out. Most street pole banner orders seem to be seasonal, so it's not like they are out there...
  14. ‘Double sided’ banners

That's the easy part. Get a number from them, calculate your material needs, yields, other costs, etc.. and price it. Most street pole banners are 24" wide or less, if you run them the way I've described, you can print two banners side by side out of a 54" wide roll. Very little waste.
  15. ‘Double sided’ banners

We arrange the two "sides" on the layout top to top in opposite directions with our pole pocket accounted for and ample extra material at the bottoms to trim and assemble as a bottom pole pocket. This way the top is a continuous, seamless loop providing the most strength. We use a double row of...
  16. Will 1"thick Excel Expanded PVC Warp With Exterior Use?

You're kidding right? I have been attacked by Mr. 33,000 posts and his merry maids for allegedly stealing the thread, showing off, making EVERY thread about me nearly every I've ever shared my work. So have some of the best craftspeople in our trade who have given up on sharing work and...
  17. Will 1"thick Excel Expanded PVC Warp With Exterior Use?

Depends. If it's going to trigger the thread police and kangaroo court, then I've never seen them before in my life and just grabbed them off the internet to illustrate my point.
  18. Will 1"thick Excel Expanded PVC Warp With Exterior Use?

Thanks. Instead of dramatically raising the cost of what was a partially donated project by having the panface itself include the rounded top, we just took a chunk of PVC the same thickness as the depth as the return on panface, painted it to match and adhered it with a LEXEL, VHB and a few...
  19. Will 1"thick Excel Expanded PVC Warp With Exterior Use?

I think Gino brings up a good question on the process being used. To me, if these are just .063 flat cut letters that big, with some 1" pad standoffs as it seems is being described, I'd be concerned about the aluminum eventually warping as much as the standoffs might. I'd be using at least...
  20. Will 1"thick Excel Expanded PVC Warp With Exterior Use?

When you say a backer, do mean a background panel for all the letters to be mounted to and fit within? If so, why not just use a formed aluminum panface as suggested by others? You get a nice rigid panel that can be painted, powdercoated, wrapped in a vinyl print, easy to mount and it allows...
