  1. Help determining size of pan face

Often, when we can't get an accurate measurement of the actual face for one reason or another we tell our vendor the overall cabinet size and they'll know the face measurement from that. A good vendor will be able to help out with things like this. Explain to them the type of retainer you're...
  2. Printing Clipart

If they're images create an 8.4 x 11 page in Illustrator and then place each image there. Size them then arrange them on the page and print on your desktop printer. If they're vector I'd think you have to open them one at a time and then copy & paste them into a page. Size, arrange then print...

    Shoresigns, great post.
  4. I just made the biggest blunder one could make on a full wrap for a full size van

Well you guys convinced me to set my own overlaps and out individual panels. That will be the future with me. When I first started doing cut vinyl I made all my own overlaps because I didn't trust Flexi. Well, I let flexi do the cut vinyl overlaps now but I'll do my own for paneled digital...
  5. I just made the biggest blunder one could make on a full wrap for a full size van

"Widen panel 2 and 4. " Why didn't I think of that? I was prepared to reprint 3 panels for each side. That's why I love this site and all you cool people on it. It's like my brain is now hundreds of times larger. Like a "hive mind". Like the Borg.
  6. I just made the biggest blunder one could make on a full wrap for a full size van

Hicaliber, I'be been over it since last night when I discovered the problem. Lol And you're right... I'll NOT make this mistake again! hahaha I'm old enough to know that now that it has happened and I have no way to go back and make not to have happened. So what you are hearing from me is not...
  7. I just made the biggest blunder one could make on a full wrap for a full size van

I'm having a bit of a lack of understanding when some of you guys mention 3 panels per side. The side of this van is over 220" long. Just can't do that in 3 panels. As SightLine says, "Although 3 panels for the side of an extended full size van says something is very wrong to begin with - ", I...
  8. I just made the biggest blunder one could make on a full wrap for a full size van

tec, that is good information and makes a world of sense. In fact, now that you mention it I remember reading about that method back in '08 when we first got the printer. A customer asked for a quote on printing some wallpaper. Knowing that if the customer bought it I'd have to know how to print...
  9. I just made the biggest blunder one could make on a full wrap for a full size van

Maybe I set it up wrong but this is an extended Chevy van and the set up is 5 vertical panels on each side. My logic in having the software generate the panels was so that I could send and RIP the entire side as one file, thereby ensuring the seams would match color-wise as the whole side...
  10. I just made the biggest blunder one could make on a full wrap for a full size van

Yeah Z, you shoulda seen how much better it was earlier today when I'd cut the last panel, did a fist pump saying, "Yeah, perfect and with time to spare!" hahaha 2B... I relaxed a bit when I read your suggestion knowing that it's an accepted method.
  11. I just made the biggest blunder one could make on a full wrap for a full size van

I started making signs when you had to have a can of paint and a brush, and I've made some mistakes in that time but nothing as costly as this one. I'll try to keep it as short and sweet as I can 'cause frankly, I don't want to talk about it. I want it to go away. First I should mention I've...

When I started to read the OP's first two sentences I expected to hear about sign shop gadgets. hahaha
  14. Fax or No Fax

Once a month or less we send or receive a fax. No dedicated line. We do have two customers and one vendor who want to do all correspondence through faxes. They rarely send us work but when they do it's loads of it so I think we keep the fax for those few instances. I like doing everything...

  16. flexisign software

As per Sign Works... You can still download Illustrator CS2 for free from Adobe. In fact, you can get the whole Creative Suite as a legal download. Of course, there is no support nor upgrades since it's at it's "End of Life". We use Illustrator and Photoshop CS2 at work. I downloaded them...
  17. Antique Dodge PU lawn art

Yeah Z, thinning the paint. There was a truck lettering fella around here back in the day who, as a matter of practice, thinned his paint a lot. He said it made it easier brush on. Depending on the color, you could often see the background through the brush strokes. One of the other painters...
  18. Happens too often...

That went from attention getting with a lot of pop to, 'I ain't gonna read all that'. It does happen all too often.
  19. Need tips on enlarging an old photo

Call some large format printing companies until you find one whose pre press department will do scans for you. They can scan it up to full size at your required ppi. They all won't do outside work like that but some will. Just call until you find one. Much better than any software approach.
