  1. VersaArt RE-640?

I just got the RE-640 off the truck today - I'm expecting the cutter Monday- I've got a ways to go but I can't wait to get this puppy printing.
  2. First 3D Sign. Advice Please

I would do these in house - CNC route the letters, or - if you don't have a CNC machine, the hard way would be to make MDF templates of the letters, something like 1/2" MDF would be fine - cheap enough to toss if you mess up and start over and easy enough to shape to where you want it. Then...
  3. Big Brother - and not from the gov't

I think that the ISPs have been put in this situation in large part to cover their own rears because of laws like the DMCA - they can be held liable if they knowingly allow copyrighted material, or even if they don't take positive active to prevent the transmission of copyrighted material...
  4. CNC N00B: Help Needed

I get most of my bits from www.usroutertools.com - they sell unsrud and Southwest Tools - they're affiliated w/ Camaster who built my CNC. But this is the set I started with http://www.usroutertools.com/product_p/se%20bitset%2010.htm I also get some of my bits from...
  5. CNC N00B: Help Needed

As far as the bits - that's not the worst kit I've seen, you want the V-Bits, 60-90-120 degrees - I don't run any straight flutes in my CNC - I do run a variety of single flutes for solid surface & plastics - and double flutes for wood. I've got 1/4" end mills for smaller work - 1/2" for really...
  6. Sweet shop logo

I think that the shape of a cake and the shape of a carousel screams to be pulled together. BUT - I like the contrast in the browns and pinks in the lettering. The fonts might be tweaked a little, but the contrast is good and overall I like that. I don't know if it's the way it's exported or...
  7. Worst fonts ever!

... at 70 mph no less.
  8. I asked for YOU to quote the job...

Well, as a CNC guy, I would wholesale based on machine time (and material) in order to estimate the machine time i need the vectors in order to do at least rough toolpath - especially on complicated jobs.
  9. RE-640 or VS-540

You're welcome sir. The RE-640 & GX-640 is the combo I went with. I think the RE is a pretty impressive machine for the price. It only came out in April, but it's built on the Epson DX5 printhead - which is shared by the Mimaki, Mutah, even the VS printers... fast, and good looking prints...
  10. RE-640 or VS-540

Well Michael, all I can tell you is what I just went with, and that’s the RE-640 + cutter. (I haven’t even taken delivery) I’ll tell you a couple of the deciding factors (not counting the input and advice from members here) 1) I had the room for the separate machines and I hope to grow into the...
  11. Logo thread revisited (Catering Company)

I like the bottom left - mainly because the 'and catering' looks like it was put there on purpose - in the others, it looks like an afterthought.
  12. Considering the "V" word...

Another thing to keep in mind is 'your' goals. Are you trying to trim fat, build mass, build long lean muscle? Are you 'big boned' and put on muscle mass easily? Are you naturally lean who have a really hard time putting on weight? Are you a man, woman? Regardless - processed foods=bad...
  13. Innovative Designs, LLC - Waukesha WI

Welcome from another Okie - I run a 4'x4' 4axis CNC myself (her name is Phoebe)- I'm really curious to see how you manage to put together a sub $1500 machine and leave some room for profit... not that I doubt you, I would seriously be impressed and look forward to your solution.
  14. Im New...Sublimation Advice Needed!!

I'd look at the Magic Touch http://www.themagictouch.com/ - you can use almost any color laser printer (the paper path does make a difference, but they have a list of the best printers on their site) regular toner, about any substrate, the only difference is the paper... ... You do need to be...
  15. Considering the "V" word...

I'll throw my 2 cents in here... maybe even a few more... First of all, I'd tell you to take a look at Bob Harper - of Biggest Loser fame - he went down the 'V word' road - and eventually went off of it for health reasons. Now, he's big into crossfit (which is a crazy program - intense!!)...
  16. Digital Art Solutions?

True - we got ours at the NBM show prices and it's considerably cheaper.
  17. Digital Art Solutions?

I looked at their stuff in Indy last week and ordered their design studio - it looks really straight forward, tons of features, templates and clip art included as well as a bunch of overlays - instructional videos AND - best of all, I have a single phone number to call a single person for any...
  18. Input & Advice, Please

I went with the RE-640 and the CAMM GX-640 cutter!! I've got a consulting job I've got to be on until next month, but Graphic Solutions will be out to install it when I return. I spent a lot of time weighing the pros and cons and I appreciate the input!
  19. Input & Advice, Please

We want to be able to do as much as possible in house - up to wraps (and yes, we will get training and practice o our own vehicles before doing customers) but there aren't - as far as I'm aware - large format printers within 50 miles. There are a few plotters - and that's what 99% of the local...
  20. Input & Advice, Please

Thanks for you time & input - and we have the room, and I we're going to go with the seperates, we might lose SOME convienence, but we'll get the extra 10 inches (and really, who wouldn't like an extra 10 inches) and God willing, we'll grow into the need to keep multiple machines rocking all the...
