Hey everyone. I just got done calibrating my Roland Soljet II (sj540) and started printing the days' queue. I notices that a banner I was printing had this faint magenta ghost around all the negative white areas. Any idea what would cause something like this? I checked the head and it looks...
Yeah I think you are right. I guess I'll reprint it on 3M wrap cast and forget laminating it. I could just see it pulling the paint and having to repaint a door.. Might as well be safe, eh?
I hadn't thought about using 3621.
The decals are already made and if I reprint I'll do it on wrap material. The only reason I didn't use it from the beginning is that I didn't have any laminate in stock.
That brings me to my second question.. You think I can laminate 3MIJ180 (cast) with...
Hello. I usually use wrap cast on decals but used 3165RA to create some decals for a road trip this week. Think police type shield on the drivers and passengers door of a new dodge pickup. I was reading the material spec sheet from Oracal and it said that the adhesive is permanent grey solvent...
Well then wait.. Tell the customer that this is the way to do it properly and that if they don't want it done properly they can find another place to do it. You avoid yourself problems with the failing wrap and keep up your quality image. No matter what anyone says if you have them sign a waiver...
An SJ540 and an SC545 are the exact same machine. The SC just has the cut feature and the SJ does not. If he is calling it and SJ-500 (which is the same as 540) make sure that it has or does not have the cut feature.
Calling an SJ/SC 540 a SC/SJ 500 is like calling a BMW 325 a BMW 3 series...
It seems that this question gets asked every couple months or so. I have done this both ways. Usually I will use a liquid laminate like clear shield rolled on very lightly but if the customer asks and pays for it I'll laminate with 290GF which works perfectly. You get a little stretch on bigger...
I have one and I love it. Actually its an SJ540 (SC540 without the cut feature, but I use my Summa to cut). I have it running on 4 heads right now CMYK and I can keep up with pretty much anything out there. Don't be afraid of its age or hours/shots these are workhorses and are meant to be...
SEAL!
Spend the money now if you can afford it. You will never have a problem with it and will be able to sell it anytime you want to. Kind of like buying a Mastercraft boat... Well before they started price gouging...
Could be any of these categories.
Clean:
Encoder strip
Encoder sensor
Calibration:
Feed calibration
Bidirectional calibration
Suction:
Dampers
Captops
Priming (try to pull ink through a syringe from the captop lead before the pump)
My money is on a priming or air loss issue in the dampers...
Unless you want to print in 6 colors. Don't let the possibility of heads going bad influence your decision too much. This business is full of great profit margins and unexpected expenses. If you plan for both you'll be fine.
I just bought one for 5400.. It is one of the best purchases I have made in a long time. Very easy to use (even for a beginner), VERY well made.
If you can afford to put the money up front it will pay for itself, over and over.
I could use some 4 color profiles if you have them handy! I have the same machine and have a few that are my go-to's but am always looking for more. PM me if you are serious! thx.
