So I ran the same print in uni-directional and came out A lot cleaner. Would this indicate I need a bi-directional calibration?

There is always something better, but I just was wondering about how this printer performs. If this is what this printer is capable of, then I’m ok with that. I appreciate all the insight.

So this is why I was asking because at arms length it basically disappears. It is a wrap on a truck and the customer say the mock-up and mentioned the graininess but he is holding it in his hands a foot away from his face. I’m fairly new to printing and didn’t know if this is how it is for a...
I did have a tech come out about 6 months ago and replace a head and I know he adjusted a bunch of stuff but didn’t want to dive into adjusting those until I asked the internet on their thoughts. [emoji16]

This is a vector file created in illustrator. This CMYK grey that I had to adjust to get them to not have a green or brown tone. Then exported as an eps and imported into VW

So this is CMYK grey. I have a whole other thread about getting to the point of getting this grey. When I run just K for my grays they start getting brown when they get to medium grey.

So……after more trial and error then I ever want again I have finally found my gray(s)!! I found the right ratio (at least for a starting point) to make a good gray. Now I can just lighten it and darken it to what I want. It’s not QUITE the gray I was looking for but that’s just going to be a few...
Thank you all for your patience and help with this. I have gone through and through, test this and that. I keep coming back to a medium grey that I think is good, but then after that it starts getting brownish again. Anytime I tweak something it just goes really off from gray. If the printer is...
I tried some isopropyl and it was ok, didn’t work on all the surfaces. I have Roland cleaner for the heads and captops and so forth. Just trying to keep the rest of it clean as well but cleaning a lot of area is pretty tedious with little swabs.

So here are my results.
Very close and a lot better. The camo print still looks brownish to me. The lighter grays are pretty good and the black is good. Still have that one brown in the middle. Maybe I just need to adjust WHICH gray I use. Still weird to me that if it’s just spray black ink...
Thank you for the motivation. Always helps to hear some kind words and have people to help like there are on this forum. I see so many people just get torn down for being “newbies” or asking questions. Then get told to use the search function.
I’m defiantly not giving up. I need to understand...
So in the pictures I posted, the Roland color chart is from almost a year ago. When I print my camo print wrap file that I have selected the grays from the Roland color chart they do match perfectly, just the gray color is brownish. So would that mean that the printer would need to be calibrated...
So here is what bothers me. It’s not that I’m having a hard time making grey from a file that I created, it that the Roland Color Chart that is made by the company is printing out with brownish grays. Seems like that would be an issue that needs to be adjusted with the printer.

So as i was saying I am very new to “printing”, I have always delt with just digital color in the monitor. Now taking that color and printing it out is a different world all together, especially when it is for a client and they have a certain expectation. My thought would be I would do different...
What would be the function of “preserve k”? Versaworks doesn’t have anything that says “preserve k” but maybe it is worded some other way in versaworks.

I did see something on a google search about the warm and cool grays and adjusting the amount of cyan or magenta through versaworks. I messed around with that for a little bit but didn’t reaLly help much and ended up more green hues. I will look at the Pantone chart and print some of those out...
