  2. Tell me what you think

I've been working on this logo and needed some input. Thanks in advance for your comments.
  3. Not Really signwork

Jill, I know far too well what OS red does in the sun. I had Mike Meyer paint a mural during my Walldog event here in Aledo. The mural was facing south and within a year the red was gone. Now it looks like a ghost wall. I really miss those days with lead in the paint. Oh well, I guess that is...
  4. Not Really signwork

I have gotten the urge to paint some fine art pieces and had to pick up the brush and sling some paint. This is what resulted. I used One Shot and they are painted on canvas. Would of used some acrylic but this is what I have on hand and it seemed foolish to buy any more paint.
  5. removing painted vehicle lettering

It is tricky, but can be done with easy-off oven cleaner. If the vehicle has a factory paint job it will work. You MUST wear rubber gloves. Nothing worse than getting the oven cleaner under your finger nails. I know because I talk from experience!! If the paint is a metallic flake, forget it...

Thanks, I forgot to tell you that there is 3 women involved with this partnership and they can't seem to agree on anything. Well, almost anything they did tell me that they didn't like the burgandy outline and shadow. If it wasn't for the fact that one of these women is my niece I probably would...

Jill, I just don't know if making the drop the dark brown does it. I have convinced them that the lettering will have to be in white because this is going on the door and to be legible we need contrast. I think they have accepted that, that is why I changed from the fade. What do you think about...

last revision, I think Because I'm snowed in today and I can't seem to get satisfaction from my efforts on this job. I decided to try one last time in fiddling with this project. I took Forge's recommendation of using the original swishes and tried to make them less prominent with the same...

another revision O.k. I'm just about the end of the revision rope here. This is what I came up with.

Incorporating a button in the design was one of the first things that I had suggested. They are starting this shop in what is called the Button Building. They will not be selling buttons instead it will be a gift, antique and fine home furnishings store. Thanks for all your input and I will try...

next revision I think you were right Bob, it tightens things up. Thanks for your suggestions.
  12. Recent Logo

revision After toiling over this I took Bob's advice and changed the script font and eliminated the triangle in the background. I also made the scrolls around the bottom not as thick because I thought they were competing with the overall design and legibility of the main copy. Here is what I...

Those are the colors she wanted. I tried to change them but she was adamant about using them against my better judgment. How can you argue with family?
  14. Recent Logo

Here is a logo that I designed for my niece. She was wanting more of a hand drawn look so I drew it with a marker, scanned it and cleaned it up. The only font that I used was LHF Sarah Script. This is what I came up with.
  15. Wolf's Lair

Here is the front view. Phillip it would be great if you could come up for a visit. Just give me a call when you get in the area.

Ty, I really don't know of any books on the subject. If you take a look at Grandpa Dan's blog he posts numerous projects that he uses this stuff on. It is a 2 part epoxy that you mix a ratio of 1:1. You have about a 2-3 hour window to work with before it becomes to hard. Even if it does you can...
  17. Wolf's Lair

Phillip, you need to order you some. I just put in an order for a 20# kit. It's amazing stuff and you can be real creative with it. Just look at all the dimensional stuff that Grandpa Dan does. Where are you located nowadays?
  18. Wolf's Lair

Here is a sign that I completed last week. I sculpted the wolf's head using Magic Sculpt. It was the first time I have used the product. When I was approached about the project I thought this would be a good time in trying it out. It was kind of fun to work with. After it had dried, I used a...
