  1. Need Help Omega or flexi

Are you wanting just a RIP? Or design? Design and RIP? And the answers that are NEITHER of the options you chose cracks me up. Anyway, be more specific in what purpose the software is that you are looking for, as well as what machines you run. Then the HELPFUL ones here can move you in the right...
  2. Output method for LARGE file

Sure PSD is the better file of all....but we're talking about COMPRESSION weren't we? PSD is the BIGGEST and has no compression options.
  3. Vectorizing an image

Same thing I use for most everything for signs...Flexi
  4. 3M IJ-175 We're Lovin It!

Anyone using this for other signage? Like long term outdoor flat signage (overlays on Dibond, aluminum, etc..)? I normally use IJ180, just wondering if this will be as good. With the $100 rebate on them right now, I'd like to snag a few rolls.
  5. Where to find grommets for thicker material?

Thanks....I looked there and didn't see them. Now I do. And CRAP they are 3 times what standard ones cost.
  6. Where to find grommets for thicker material?

    That's what I need...longer barrels.
  7. Where to find grommets for thicker material?

I need to procure some #2 self-piercing grommets (we have Stimpson machines) to use in 3/16" foamcore mainly. We seem to be doing a lot of these, and the standard ones end up crushing the material too much. I know they make them......problem is no one seems to sell them. Anyone have any leads?
  8. Output method for LARGE file

That doesn't matter when creating a file for a large wall mural. Why have a 200GB file for a billboard, choking your RIP and taking up so much space, when a 2GB file will look EXACTLY the same from 20 feet away.
  9. backlit adhesive film

How do you manage to assign only the K printhead to print your black?
  10. Some colors randomly not getting ripped.

No, it literally omits a color, not changing it. I had it happen. A rush job, with blue background and yellow letters. I set it to print, left the room, came back and I had a run of blue and white prints. I resent the same file with a different profile, same thing happened. Had to restart the PC...
  11. Gerber ION Solara owners who retrofitted their lamps and ink or scrapped it?

I'm amazed any of these are still out there running. Used one at the previous company I worked for. Was a terrible machine for what we bought it for.
  12. Material you can color on?

Poster paper is the best option, even though you said no paper.
  13. CAN YOU USE SCRAP PIECES IN AN HP 315?

It isn't worth the hassle.Better to just nest as many jobs as you can. Any waste should already be figured in to your costs.
  14. Output method for LARGE file

LZW IS lossless. TIF with JPG compression works well....set it around 10 and get good file sizes.
  15. New Plotter - FC9000 or something else?

We did the same, but opted out on the cam. Do you think from your experience so far the cam is worth it? I heard it's just a tiny bit faster with it, and we are having pretty good results so far. I've had a few really long prints that seemed to have gone off track and ruined the prints. Just...
  16. A day in the life of a designer

That is very regional. $25/hr in Cali is about $15/hr here. Which is low end. Actual graphic designers (non-sign industry) can fetch $25-35/hr here....but the Sign business is so different than ad agencies/design firms so that wage is always lower. I'd say an average wage for sign shop designer...
  17. Removing old cracked vinyl wrap from trailer

Electric vinyl zapper..uses rubber wheels like erasers. https://www.fellers.com/fellers-shopping/cat/wrap-tools-and-supplies/sub/wrap-removal/set/mbx-electric-vinyl-zapper
  18. Flexi not remembering my open color tables

When you do a proper "CLOSE" of the application, any changes to the color swatches prompts you to save them, as well as saving the setup of your workspace. If that's not working correctly than it's a glitch, and you probably should open up Preference Manager and do a reset.
  19. Laminate shrinking and lifting

I've seen that same lifting with dry erase laminate, on an INDOOR application. Possibility someone grabbed the wrong roll?
