  1. tension banner frame recommendation

Hi all! One of my customers needs a wall mount tension banner frame (20'W x 11'H). (mounted on a concrete building, very close to the ground) I'd like to use a 13oz vinyl banner since those are inexpensive to print, compared to mesh banner, but the folks at Lind said a banner of that size...
  2. "No More Walk-ins" - Good Idea, or Terrible Mistake?

A little different with this one... retail supply first, then wholesale. Sign Warehouse (started in the late 90s) formed their wholesale company, thebannerstore.net around 2011. No doubt they're using their import buying power to keep costs down at their wholesale biz.
  3. Screenprint and Embroidery Shop... gcc Puma IV, looking to get into printed stickers!

Unless you have a specific need that requires in-house printing (e.g. same day rush printing) it's not worth the headache or expense in small volume. You need to print at least 1k sq.ft. per month on wide format to justify a solvent printer and keep it "healthy" by printing almost every day...
  4. Trim white vinyl job with a fotoba digitrim

Produce it as a print-and-cut job (adding the Trim-o-Matik marks), Plot it, mask with clear and run through your Digitrim.
  5. "No More Walk-ins" - Good Idea, or Terrible Mistake?

That's what I did. I've been in the biz for 25 years. Back in 2018 I decided to add "Call for an Appointment" to my primary window graphics and keep the door locked 24/7. I also added keyless entry (so deliveries can be made without having to monitor the front door). Later I added a Ring...
  6. Epson S80600 error code

Okay, I think we figured it out (fingers crossed). The wrong firmware was installed. I updated it with the latest version on Epson's website (instead of the one sent to me by the dealer). Guess we'll see how it goes! Thanks!
  7. Epson S80600 error code

Hi all! My 1 year old S80600 sometimes stops mid print and throws an error "Circuit Error D26E" or "Circuit Error D269". It happens intermittently, maybe once or twice per week. I couldn't find anything online related to those error codes, but I did reach out to the dealer (no reply yet)...
  8. How do you ship large color digitally printed and laminated hood graphics with application tape applied?

What others have said. clear app tape works a lot better than paper. Squeegee it really well and roll it up face out on a tube. At my shop I have a spare laminator that I use for transfer tape. It's more consistent than trying to squeegee everything out by hand. Very high pressure. Also...
  9. Whats your experience with the Epson S80600 Printers?

S80600 for a year. Zero issues. I love it.
  10. what in the actual hell!.....

As a general rule, tell all agencies to eff off. Most of these companies hire teenagers, backed up by ridiculous contracts so the owners have less to worry about. These guys know nothing about what they're asking you to do (and it's unlikely they even read the terms of the contract they pasted...
  11. Need Help Fotoba XLD170 WP - *Scanner not reading

Oh, this was an old thread. Oops. lol
  12. Need Help Fotoba XLD170 WP - *Scanner not reading

How clean / crisp are your registration marks? I've had that problem before, and it was due to the reg mark bein' a little too fuzzy in places. Come to find out my print profile wasn't optimized. Recalibrating solved it. (hopefully it's an easy fix like that)
  13. To Mask or not to Mask

Probably no mask, but also consider how much ink is in your print, and whether or not it has "really" outgassed. High coverage dark inks make the vinyl more pliable -- more likely to stretch / skew. If your graphic needs really accurate positioning (e.g. it has a border), it might be worth...
  14. Napkin printer

There are many ways to print on napkins, from screen printing to offset roll presses, even some inkjet printers (the kind with feeders used for envelopes, cards, etc), like this one: https://addresserbasedsystems.com/full-color-high-speed-inkjet/postmark-full-color-high-speed-inkjet/
  15. Question Looking for Inexpensive Outsource Design Service

I assume you're aiming for an "inexpensive" designer because too many clients complain about design fees in the first place, and it's not a profitable aspect of printing / sign making. I get that. But being the "translator" for all the back and forth revisions / approvals isn't particularly...
  16. Suggestions Desktop rotary engraver suggestions for ADA signs

Yeah, a laser engraver would definitely help out.
  17. Suggestions Desktop rotary engraver suggestions for ADA signs

^ this. The learning curve is real. It's not as simple as attaching plastic to an engraver bed and hitting "plot". A typical ADA sign involves multiple materials and different cutting / drilling bits for each one (plus loading/unloading, calibrating each tool every time you swap bits)...
  18. vinyl recommendation for painted concrete - long term

If only I had the resources for it. I'm a one man shop in a small college town (doing mostly printing / vinyl installs / etc.) I've never hand lettered before. Not that painting is particularly difficult or anything... but this job is big for me. 63 locations on 3 floors, all by ladder. In...
