  1. Blacks on the Contone L300 Series?

Color Calibration (Linearization) Targets must always be percentages of a single ink per ramp (no mixing of ink colors). In the case of the Latex 300 series, we do not have access to the specific top % value used for single channel ink restrictions, because the printer does not share this...
  2. Blacks on the Contone L300 Series?

Not sure about this part. The Black that is used in the first chart (with the ranges of ink amounts) is a rich black build. It would not do any good to make an ink load decision based on a 100 percent black only, because then when production files with rich black builds are printed, the ink...
  3. Blacks on the Contone L300 Series?

Which Calibration are you referring to here? The on-board Color Calibration, or the RIP-based Calibration target?
  4. Blacks on the Contone L300 Series?

Typically, the default color settings in the RIP will assign an embedded working space in cases where the file does not already have one. This can be risky of course, as this can change the file's colors in unpredictable ways.
  5. Blacks on the Contone L300 Series?

OK, the first test has been printed and measured on the Latex 360. This testing is conducted using the ONYX RIP (v 11.1.2). I am using 3M IJ180cv3. There is no question that the color management setting defined in the RIP does affect the color output. By turning off all color management...
  6. Blacks on the Contone L300 Series?

I am running a series of tests that should be able to answer this. At this point, I am unsure whether there is a way to drive the printer in a Calibrated, but non-Color Managed state (with all color corrections and transforms turned off). I'll have definitive answers on this question this week.
  7. Banner Stretch...

Sorry, I am having a bit of difficulty in understanding what you are describing in your post. Bowing (x-axis media deformation) typically occurs toward the middle of the media, versus the respective edges, but I can't see if that relates to your situation.
  8. Cutting Master 3 + Win10 = dud?

Strange, I have CM3 running without an issue on a Win10 laptop with CS6 as well as a desktop with Win10 where CM3 is operating. They (Graphtec) are due for an update for compatibility with Illustrator CC2015, but that has nothing to do with the OS that is running. I'd say to de-install the...
  9. L25500 print quality issues

I am pleased to be able to help. By the way, printing in uni-directional (as opposed to bi-directional) will reduce throughput significantly. The HP Latex printers do not tend to exhibit any noticeable chromatic banding artifacts when printing bi-directionally on most common medias, so you might...
  10. L25500 print quality issues

First, make sure that you are up-to-date on your machine's firmware. As of today, that is fw 7.0.0.4 which was released in May 2014. This firmware includes a function called an Inter-Pass Delay Offset which will cause a slight pause in between each print pass. This can be beneficial for several...
  11. Keep getting WRITE PORT ERROR

I cannot offer any concrete advice, except to say that it is generally a poor decision to attempt to drive a RIP-based large-format printer from any wireless connection. These systems are sending a copious amount of data to the printer, and wireless communication is inherently less reliable than...
  12. 60" adhesive backed vinyl

Hi Bob, The Latex 360 can print with or without margins on each side of the media. When printing with margins, the minimum margin distance is 0.197 on each side of the media. If the distance between copies is set to a small value (<0.2"), these files should fit onto 60 inch media using a...
  13. L25500 print quality issues

Unfortunately, the images that you attached are not very helpful in helping diagnose the issue. The place to start (always) with horizontal banding (in the carriage scan direction) is with the Test Print. This is accessed from the front panel, Ink Menu > Image Quality Maintenance > Clean...
  14. Good Solid Yellow From 4 Colour Printer? (+ KOA?)

In the Job Settings dialog: go to the Quality Tab, select the media. Then in the Color Management Preset, choose Density Control Only. Note that this works best with CMYK-based files. See attached.
  15. Caldera Profiling, greys seem to have a lot of magenta.

In the ICC Profile component, there is a function called Black Generation. It has to do with the amount of CMY ink versus the K ink that is being used when printing neutrals like grays. It is often times referred to as GCR (Gray Component Replacement) or UCR (Under Color Removal). Starting the K...
  16. Help wtih HP Latex 360 + Wasatch

The HP Latex 360 printer is a very different animal from a color management standpoint, compared with literally every other machine in this market segment. It is a Contone device, and as part of that, for the Latex 300 series, HP has created a media profile format that is universal for all RIPs...
  17. 25500 ink starvation?

It appears that your Yellow printhead(s) are failing shortly after the print commences. You can run a Test Print and verify if this is the case, and if so, swapping out the affected head(s) takes about 15 minutes, including the automatic printhead alignment calibration. Printheads are...
  18. 25500 ink starvation?

Why would you print with the high ink setting on front lit PVC vinyl or paper medias? The High Ink setting is normally used for very absorptive or backlit medias, and using it on the media that you are mentioning will tend to cause major problems with coalescence and wet ink, in my experience.
  19. Two 370's coming tomorrow!

Wow, very surprising! I had you pegged as an eco-solvent user for life. I am curious about what specific feature(s) of the Latex 370 motivated you to make the move to HP Latex?
  20. onyx 10 - printing with just 1 (of 2) channel of a color (cyan)

I do not believe that there is any way for the RIP to ignore a single channel and use the other of the same color. You will need to get the head working properly or replace it with a new printhead.
