I would say the second one but without the car and squares. Make it two color. Lose the brushed metal.
You should be comparing these two as black and white versions. That way you are not distracted by the gradients, shadows, and other effects that should be left out of a logo.
Are you applying these effects to large scale drawings? Drop shadows and outer-glow effects create raster data within illustrator and increase file size significantly. I normally only apply these effects on 8.5" x 11" small scale drawings. It's way faster that way.
Hadn't seen that one before. I've seen a few that are similar. There is one where the negative space forms two hands going to make a hand shake. I'm almost positive this exact logo is out there somewhere though. I'd hate to have this company use it and a year from now find out their exact logo...
Haha... no, but that's pretty fitting.
I'm working on a logo for a friends company called "Simple Eco Solutions" I came up with that while doing some sketches. I know I've seen it somewhere. I don't think it was S-Bahn Bern, although that is very close. I'm not going to use that logo. I'm just...
Okay, that link with the American Flag Etiquette is kind of a joke.
yet the whole site is decorated with American Flags. (The Header, The side menu, even the little line underneath where it says "American Flag Etiquette")

Give me a break. The design was obviously meant to look cartoony. That doesn't mean its a bad design. The pig cow and chicken look phenomenal! Whoever designed that is very talented. Were they purchased stock vectors? The three guys don't have the same amount of detail/shading/depth as the...
How long ago did you make the post? Be patient there are way more graphic designers out there than there are design jobs. The right candidate will come in soon enough.
It may be a good idea to have people e-mail their resume's & portfolios first. Then pick the ones who have potential and ask...
Very cool sign and buiding. Maybe consider staining the letters instead of painting them. You can get a red tinted stain. That would let the beauty of the wood grain shine through more than just painting it. I think painting the letters red white and blue will stick out more, but look very gawdy.
