  1. Threaded a VERY small screwhead

You may also find when drilling it out that you damage the brown plastic holder the head fixes too. These can be found on ebay too
  2. Threaded a VERY small screwhead

Definitely! Hitting it with a hammer is likely to cause damage to the heads, and if not will bend the carriage as it's not very thick metal, and you would never be able to straighten it again. Searching on ebay for roland head carriage there are a few sellers who have them listed for various...
  3. XC-540 in storage for 4 years just brought it back out

Realistically you need to replace the bad heads.
  4. Threaded a VERY small screwhead

They are an absolute pain to get out! ( I speak from experience ) as there is very little room to get any sort of pliers or extractors onto them The only real option is to drill off the head of the screw, then remove the heads, remove the head carriage and hope you can get some pliers onto the...
  5. _

You find a lot of 'not for profit' people mean they don't make a profit AFTER they have paid themselves a nice fat salary from the income.... ;)
  6. Roland VS tubing ! Buy this for captop

Just keep an eye on it in case it causes any problems, you don't want a leak onto the head !
  7. Roland VS tubing ! Buy this for captop

Is it solvent proof though... The original hoses are made of polyester, not silicone.
  8. Question Epson DX5 Mutoh Heads

Doesn't stop the chinese selling used or reject heads as 'refurbished' :/
  9. Yellow Ink issues

How does the yellow print on it's own? Try printing out a 6 inch solid block of yellow and see how it looks. This will let you know if it is a problem with the vinyl. It could be a bad batch of ink or as others suggest it could be the heater setting is too low and the inks are not blending properly
  10. Need Help Roland Versacamm VS-640 - Won't fully boot up (Stuck on start-up screen)

It could be temperature related. If there is a bad connection on the PCB sometimes very cold weather can cause them to shrink enough to disconnect, and when it warms up it makes contact. Very annoying to diagnose as it is so variable!
  11. Need Help Roland Versacamm VS-640 - Won't fully boot up (Stuck on start-up screen)

The setup sheet message in service mode is normal, also the heaters don't come on in service mode. The non starting in normal mode is likely down to a failed main board or servo board, both are weak points on the VS series printers
  12. VS-540 Loud carriage noise

OEM motors were made in japan and are much better quality than the new chinese ones which is why they can last 10 years or more before failing. Roland didn't put cheap low quality chinese motors in new machines for a good reason. Yes, I know Roland didn't make their own consumables, but two...
  13. VS-540 Loud carriage noise

Will either be the scan motor is worn, or the bearing blocks that connect the head to the rail behind it. Move the head along the rail and see if there is any free play or bearing noise coming from those. If not then is most likely the motor. Blocks and motors are available on ebay, but avoid...
  14. equity and the upper crust, this cant end up well

Its a very definite strategy by large corporations. If you buy up all the competition, you no longer have any competition and can charge whatever you want, impose restrictions or give an awful service. What is annoying is when you think you are dealing with an independent business, or small...
  15. Question Epson DX5 Mutoh Heads

Those videos are generally fake, or not showing the full story. Replace the heads, there isn't any way to repair or refurbish them
  16. Roland SP300v Head Soak Question

Yes, just remove them and put them back in when you are done. Sometimes you will find the printer will register them as being full again, but it will still give you the warning when they are actually getting empty
  17. Printer Technician

In that case they shouldn't really be charging a travel fee
  18. Printer Technician

I'm not sure how big Houston is ( being in the UK ) but I have had requests to travel long distances here to do repairs. The problem is as a tech if you need to drive 3 or 4 hours to get somewhere that fuel and time needs to be paid for. Assuming you want to get to the shop for opening time...
  19. RF640 Losing Channel

They are the ones that connect the hose to the ink dock. You will need to remove the covers that cover the ink docks and you will see where the hoses connect onto them. They are small brass nuts and the o ring is inside them
  20. RF640 Losing Channel

OK if you have ink leaking showing at your ink dock then that is where the problem is, and would be letting in air. It could be a hole in the ink line, or the o-ring and nut that connects the ink line to the dock needs replacing. You need to clean all of that off and see if you can see where ink...
