  1. custom stamps, self inking or otherwise

Our business actually started as a rubber stamp manufacturer 58 years ago before we expanded into printing, signs, and apparel. They are still a large part of our business. What you are looking for should be very simple for most anyplace to do. I'd offer to quote them but I'm not a merchant...
  2. Business Management Software

You sound very similar to our business. We are 5 employees and do signs and banner, screen printing, direct to garment, embroidery, engraving, awards and trophies, promotional products (in house and outsourced), rubber stamps, and commercial paper printing (digital presses, this is a large part...

We got a 1014uv from direct color systems last month. So far we like it.
  4. What is legal?

Go ahead and take the sign back. You can get away with most things as long as you don't physically harm someone. Think of it this way. If the guy can't afford to pay for his sign then he can't pay a lawyer to go after you for taking it back. I also like the idea of replacing it with a sign...
  5. Screen Printed or Laser Engraved Plaques

There is a silver aluminum we use that lasers black. I think it might work for your application.
  6. Shipping Large Decals/Stickers

I've always found the triangle and square boxes to get crushed by the shipping companies and damage the product. I had to switch to all round tubes.
  7. Screen Printed or Laser Engraved Plaques

It sounds like there is a little confusion on the finished product. Just to make sure we have it right. You want plain silver metal with all black text and logos. So silver background and all black imprint. Also do you have a preference on the type of metal used and what type of application is...
  8. Instant one media? anybody use these 2 products?

Do you have recommended heat settings for latex? We tried using our IJ35 profile and had some minor heat issues. It worked great in our solvent.
  9. Promotional Pens

Hub Pen has been great in the past but a few months ago they implemented a new order management system and the transition didn't go smoothly. Even since they've been on 2-4 week production with no option for rush orders (they normally offer free 24 hour rush). Hopefully they get things worked...
  10. Roland LEF-12 UV Printer - Anyone Own One

I'm pretty sure I'm about to buy a direct color systems 1014uv. Saw it at SGIA last week. It just looks like there's so many possibilities.
  11. Long jobs and no take-up

If all you need is to keep it from bunching up and ink touching ink just roll the stuff yourself as it comes off. When it hits the floor start rolling. come back every couple minutes and roll a little more and leave the roll sitting on the floor. We do it all the time when we are just printing...

  14. Looking for folder synching systems...dropbox? google drive? etc...

I've tried pretty much all of them and non of them compare to the speed and reliability of dropbox. It may be more expensive the solutions like google drive and others but it seems to be in a league of it's own compared to everything else.

Did anybody come up with a solution for this problem? We are just starting to see the same problem with our magenta.
  16. Changing my mind about SQUARE

prowraps is correct. square just passed on the chargeback from your customers bank. I don't use them either. I use payjunction and have been happy with them. payjunction.com. Pricing is fair, customer service is good, and the included software is very user friendly and full of features. Also no...
  17. Employees, need advice on taking the next big step with my business...

    1. Is there any way to "know" when is the right time to hire an employee? I honestly feel I'm there or very close, but being a small 1 man shop it's a lot to risk and I worry about things not working out, the added costs of payroll, insurance, etc. usually when you want to keep expanding your...
  18. Notebooks/Ultrabooks/Convertible Tablets - what to stay away from, what to go for?

Look at a macbook air or pro retina even if you want to run windows instead of mac. I just read an article about a study that found a macbook to be the worlds most reliable windows pc. http://bgr.com/2013/04/24/windows-pc-study-macbook-pro-463158/ I have an air and run both windows and mac and...
  19. Need Software (Order, time-tracking, estimating, etc.) - Cloud based

signvox sounds perfect for what you want. It works great for us. Only thing i think it does't have is the time clock but if you suggest it there is a good chance they will add it in the future. They are really good at adding features based on customer feedback.
  20. how do you hold up your material roll?

I also use the sooper clips from grimco. used tape for long time and it always left residue and always fell off. I held off on buying the sooper clips because of the price but now I wish I had a long time ago. one hand on and off and never falls off on its own.
