the new design might work...the older ones that I got were little short spikes for the coro and would snap off way too easy...
I thought they would work better than the metal as I had metal that broke far too fast, but I didn't find the older spider stakes to be any better...

def check with the manufacture of the paint. It will also depend on if they are baking the paint or air drying. Every paint will be different......
I would not want to put it on early as the solvents would still be coming out of the paint and will likely cause many problems with the vinyl.
vinyl and tinting are really different. It is like comparing tennis to racquetball.

I don't see that it would hurt it. A car defroster can get warm, but not any hotter than the glass will get in sunlight. I am sure it would be a nightmare to remove if or when you want to remove it. With window tinting we have techniques to remove it from a defroster window, but not sure it...
If you want to do a 5% on a store front then look at Johnson Window Films MG-05. It is made for flat glass windows and is a dry adhesive. You can also get it in their "pre-cut" program.
You do have to be careful with putting that dark of a film on building windows. If they are not double...
