I moved my business after 20 years, so I am starting over pretty much. I am running an ad in the "service section" of a paper that reached 17,500 people weekly. They will make me a category to be under. I do
Embroidery
Screen printing
vehicle graphics
promotional products
(including carbonless...
I've had excellent results with heat gun, plastic razor blade and rapid remover. I'd clean off vinyl. The remaining glue i use the rapid remover and soak towels hold on it for a short bit, it turns the glue into snot balls for lack of a better word. Then do a final clean with denatured alcohol...
My open hours when I had my storefront was 9 to 3 Mon thru Thursday. Fridays I could catch up or have an extra day off. No days off from October to Christmas because that was the embroidery busiest time. Now all my hours are by appointment because my shop is at my house which is AWESOME!
I'll look into sign tracker. I am also dealing with massive price increases as I moved a ton of material with me. Now I am having to buy more and the prices have gone up substantially since 2019.
I guess I get frustrated because I'm not making money if the machines aren't running. But at some...
I totally agree with you, until I moved. New customers don't know me or how I do things. So I am having to give a few quotes. Once I do one, they haven't asked for more they just order. In fact before I moved, I had a lot of my customers just tell me what they wanted and " do what you do". I...
Oops, can you give me an example of a system or process with say production of cut vinyl, or something you do. I have a tendency to "put out fires" so I jump from this to that. It all gets done but it could be smoother...
Thanks!
I am interested in how other one man shops account for their time on jobs. I do embroidery, screen print (actually heat transfer now, much easier and cleaner) cut vinyl and digital printing. I make signs, banners and offer promo products. I did have a store front from 1999 until 2020, and...
All awesome advise. But I would also look at the Melco machines. I've run brothers for 20 years, a single head, 3 head and a 4 head. They are all still running but 2 years ago I added 3 Melco machines. The brothers are workhorses. But if I lose a motherboard I'll be outta luck and dead in the...
Just to update this post. We changed caps, dampers and further testing decided to replace 4 heads. Had a few hiccups along the way but Jim walked me through it and the printer is now up and running probably better than it ever did!!!
Thank you all for the replies. Customer is not picky. The substrate supplier suggested Polycarbonate as it is 10x impact resistant. The old sign I'm pulling out is acrylic. Price difference between the two is $63 per sheet. My printer is up and running again. (Thank you Jim) So would that be a...
My customer has asked me if I can make the new double sided sign for his new store. The old acrylic is in the box still, just turned around so it shows blank. Each sign is 37" tall by 9' long. I found a supplier near me (45 minutes) that can cut it to size, but I have to go pick them up their...
I got all my parts in. I have never done any of this myself. I have some steps for caps printed out from Roland years ago. I did find a copy of the service manual. Is there anything I need to be aware of or tips you have. Is there anything special for the dampers? Other than 1 at a time, unplug...
I've always heated the old vinyl with a heat gun peeled off and then used rapid remover to get remaining glue off. I tried the ghost off once but wasn't impressed.
How will I know? The post said they were, they also said shipped from Cali but FedEx estimated delivery is 2 weeks. I'm thinking I might have been dupped on this one!
I have parts coming to do all that. I should have them next week, I think. I will stop messing with it until I get all the stuff you mentioned. I may need help again when I am doing that.
Thank you both for your help! So much appreciation. I have been a member here since 2007 when I bought this...
