Forgot to come back and update this thread. I fixed the GR640 a couple days ago.
I replaced a few other parts that did NOT fix the issue - cut carriage ribbon, encoder PCB and cut carriage PCB - incase anyone else goes down this route.
I ended up getting a deal on a GR540 that was in working...
Managed to fix the carriage motor error issue. The right sensor just needed to be unplugged/replugged. Now back to the blade slamming down and erroring out.
So seems it wasn't the ribbon cable being at fault since it's new now.
Any suggestions?
Replaced the ribbon cable (new) and now when I turn on the plotter the carriage will move all the way right and motor error on the bumper.
Motor Error: S [01] F[00]0.0AR

Looking for part number: 1000016381 if anyone has on they're willing to sell? Roland and other suppliers are 4+ weeks out and need to test asap if my issue is cable related.
Thanks!
My GR640 was working perfect as it should.
Friday we left the shop with it working perfect and turned off after a job.
This morning (Monday) we went to go do some cuts and it returns back a carriage error after the blade slams down. It does this during a test cut AND when sending from...
I have 2 large files in my que A that completely crash/freeze Versaworks as soon as they're clicked, so I can't even delete them.
Is there a way to clear the que cache or a work around to deleting the 2 files so they're no longer in que? Clicking them during a print completely crashes...
I got it to be a BIT better by re-aligning the heads manually. While it didn't solve the problem it did help band-aid the situation for that timeframe.
I had a tech from All Graphics come by to service my XR640 and after going over my SP540 for a while it basically came down to the heads just...
That's what I wrote in my initial question. While its cutting you can adjust the perfcut by hitting Cut Config on the printer, but none of the changes take effect and when you change the pressure number, hit enter, then go back to the number its defaulted to whatever versaworks sent.
Sorry, I'm a bit confused. You're saying set cut pressure first (which I do in on the physical printer), but then send the job without perf pressures set in VW?
Is there a way to change the perf cut pressure while in the middle of a job? I've tried in the cut config like a normal cut, but every-time I think I've set the pressure I go back and it's reset?
During normal kiss-cut it will be, lets say, 80 and I can change that no problem. During the perf...
I recently picked up an XR640 and I've looked everywhere for any DIY setups, but I need some ideas on what I can make to keep the media off the floor (when not using the rollers).
I do a ton of print/cut on some media that I'd like to not touch the floor.
Just looking for some creative ideas...
Well with your help I've definitely gotten the prints better, so I appreciate that a ton.
Maybe after these less important prints Im trying to get out I'll bite the bullet on 2 heads, will keep the thread updated for reference!
Thanks again Zoogee.
