had this same problem with my xc540, I'm running flexi, and the tech from their company was able to fit it. he uninstalled the printer from flexi, had me turn the printer off, unplug both cables. After a few minutes turned the printer back on, he reconnected the printer and everything has been good.

I've done this, i was trouble shooting some heads, was tired got ahead of my self. I forgot the printer was on. This was with dx4 heads, i burned up the printhead board and wasted those printheads.

It might be coming out of the line but is the link making its way Through the printhead? Could you manually with a syringe pull ink, instead of letting the pump doing the work. That way you can see and hear if there's a air gap from cap to head

Yeah I bought some off brand caps once and it was all bad. They won't cap properly so the ink wasn't coming out on a test print. Manually pulled ink from the head with a old cap and syringe. Print test was perfect. Sometimes the China caps are no good

Check your fuses on your printhead board. Maybe pull more ink into the head. Do a deep clean. And then try that. Is this head old?

I was having this similar problem with my xc540 but the black was good, only lines in the colors. But I use flexi and found the problem was in the rip.. weird how it's in the test print off the printer. Ink not making its way completely Maybe?

Are you using Flexi rip?
