3M Reflective Vinyl IJ680CR-10

So in the Fellers kit I purchased it comes with IJ680 CR-10 reflective vinyl for printing. I printed something on it and then read all I could find and found nothing about laminating. Since it was to be installed on a snowmobile I laminated it. However it does not really reflect. Is it because of the lam? Has anyone used it successfully and what are the tricks? Really don't care to waste over $4 per square foot.

It's not the laminate.
Printed reflective vinyl looks ok but doesn't reflect as much as standard roll cut reflective after printing.

Light colors work best.

what printer? inkjet or thermal?

We use vector engineered reflective white on ambulance and specialty vehicle apps we print it on a mutoh and laminate it with cast lamonate and it works great try less passes next time maybe. We have had more problems printing standard vinyls that reflective

the majority of what we print is on 3m IJ680 for the fire and emergency industries, thermal and ink jet. If thermal, Be sure to use transparent foils, and obviously, black, white, and metal colors won't be reflective. If inkjet, you should be fine aside from blacks. even on our 2 layer profiles, it's still reflective. lamination is no issue.

Funny, I was just thinking about this material. You want to laminate this with a CAST laminate. I use 8518 with it. I got a sample roll of the stuff when I purchased my printer, and have used it very sparingly - It's worth its weight in gold apparently... because that's about what it costs

+1 to printing on reflective dulls the reflection, but it will still reflect. Even my blacks light up, slightly.

+1 to laminating with cast material.
