Aluminum Composite vs Aluminum vs Alumalite ??

If you want long lasting exterior signs at those sizes, I'd use the .080 and powder coat them. Most white acm panels painted from the factory don't use a very good paint. Most of them will start to chalk after a few years.

Nix on the reflective if they won't be viewed by vehicles.

So for these garden signs , sizes range from 15 x 12 , 24 x 13 48 x30 72 x 36 and 24 x12 they are going to drill their own holes and they haven't decided where they are being post if on fence or on posts etc. You would or wouldn't use 3m Aluminum Composite Panel- Solid Core- Alupanel ( .30mm aluminium sheets sandwiched with polyethylene core) in windy areas- Here in Chicago we get windy days -
Yes, free standing or attached to a post the wind can bend these. I would use 080 Aluminum or 1/2' MDO Plywood as a base in this case

Hi All,

Trying to make sense or all of the substrates
I have a client that needs signage for community garden needs to last long and UV and snow restraint -
The signs are just to mark certain locations within the garden such as the bee side, chicken side etc. Some are going on fence others on a post.( not sure yet if they using u channel or a wooden post) So we will need to drill holes for them

0.80 Aluminum
3mm Aluminum Composite this is same as Alupanel ?
6mm Alumalite
5mm Alumacorr

How do you go about picking the right one for this project ? Size? location? Flexibility,? outdoor span? weight? sign post? Surface Smoothness?

Should they be reflective?

Thank you for any insight
I make a ton of signs like this, for directional and wayfinding. We use 3mm ACM, easy to cut, and is pretty light. If it needs to be reflective, print on reflective vinyl - we use a 3mil reflective to print on. We just use self tapping screws to mount on to 4x4's for the large (48" width) signs, and metal 2x2 posts for smaller speed limit type signs.
