American Pickers

Pickers is great! And they're from Iowa! (but that's just something else Jill wouldn't like about them:Big Laugh) There was a story on our local TV News about them last week. They had been pitching the show to networks for 4 1\2 years, finally got picked up and in second season are the top rated cable TV show. Good for them!

Dirty Jobs and Mythbusters are at the top of my list too!

I like American Pickers and Pawn Stars. I worked at a pawn shop for about 5 years back in the day. We got a lot of old stuff, but never anything with real history associated with it. No Thomas Jefferson silver or John Hancock letters or anything like that. Lots of old guns, antique flatirons, old jewelry and watches, old silver coins, things like that. It was a pretty fun business.

i can't stand that guys laugh on Pawn Stars...sounds like that dog in the old cartoon what was his name "muttley"...and the ppl that come into their shop to sell their goods ''duh" don't tell tehm you paid $5 for an item at a yardsale if you think you are going to walk out of there with a profit..

NEWSFLASH..if you take items to a pawnshop to sell you are going to get screwed.

If you are a crack addict and want to sell Grandma's jewels that she smuggled out of Germany in her secret purse during the war for a fraction of what they are worth at 2am on a Sunday night the pawnshop is for you and if a lawnmower or bicycle just happened to jump out of someone's garage on your way to the pawnshop they will probably give you $5 for those too.

I have to wonder with them being in vegas how many ppl are running from their store to the casino tables the moment they sell an item..and 5 minutes later they look down at their wrist and run back to the pawn shop to see what they can get for the prized rolex on their wrist "it's worth $4500" ... "haha yeah that's not going to happen" .. "ok i'll take $4000".."no son i'm in business to make a profit how about $12 bucks?" "but it's worth $4500, how about meeting me in the middle? how 'bout $1994..? ... "yeah NO that's not going to happen how about $20 bucks..in cold hard cash... and really i don't feel comfortable with that .. but i'm willing to take a chance." "ok, thanks i'll take it but will you throw in a little lubrication?".... "sure, Chumley go write up this guys paperwork"

and then after they leave the store make some comment about how much profit they are going to make on the sale of the item...it blows my mind that people continue to business with these chumps after seeing the television show.

If I had a civil war relic, and they had an expert come in a say it's valued at $10,000, and they offer me $2,000, I'd be right out the door with the expert looking for a real collector of civil war relics. I think people would figure that out!

It doesn't bug me that the Pickers are from Iowa. I love all the States.
That skinny guy has rapey eyes and reminds me of someone who is creepy with me at family get-togethers.
A reality show which I do like is Tabitha's Salon Takeover.
And I love to hate Patti Stanker the Millionaire Matchmaker.

Hey Dan, for not liking the show...I'm impressed you remembered the guy's name!

Remembered a name? Hell, he just gave you the script for every show.

And since I watched it there's no way in hell I'm believing the story of the guy who got paid to haul off a Shelby Cobra.

American Pickers and Pawn Stars are fun to watch but I almost always feel like someone is getting the short end of the stick.

I like these shows:

Top Chef
The Next Food Networks Star
Hell's Kitchen
Throwdown with Bobby Flay
Man vs Food
Food Wars

What can I say I like shows about food.....
