Any Roland owners ever deal with the EUV4 / EUV5 Yellow ink drop out issue?

Apparently there have been problems in the past with the EUV4 and EUV5 yellow inks. Dealers had to replace print heads, dampers, etc... trying to deal with yellow nozzle drop outs.
It's not clear if this was a QC issue with the ink, I don't think Roland ever found a solution to the problem. Users switched to the EUV2 yellow inks to resolve the issue.

Anyone ever experience this issue in the past?

If so, was the solution to replace the yellow ink line?

for what it is worth, yellow ink, like white ink, has A LOT OF SOLIDS in suspension
this can make it troublesome
i assume you tried the simple things, like shaking/agitating the ink daily?
one of the things i have done is to take troublesome cartridges to my local home depot or hardware store (i am pretty tight with the paint department people) along with a velcro strap and get someone to
run a cycle on the paint shaker for 3 minutes. at that point EVERYTHING is in suspension with no clumping.
DO NOT USE THE INK FOR 3-4 HOURS there will be FOAMING which will dissipate then give the ink a shake every 24-48 hours
this was a process we always used with out white inks

Hmmm very interesting. This would explain alot. Funnily, you would have thought Roland would have made this information very clear, similarly like the white ink pigments.
I'll start shaking the yellow cartridges with the same frequency as the white.

I have a inexpensive lab vibrating/shaker plate I bought specifically for the white ink cartridges. You might want to look into one of these too

it may just be my own quirk, but, i have been doing it ever since we solved an issue for a client and roland explained it was because of the high amount of solids suspended in yellow ink

i actually bought a hardware style shaker on ebay

Just an update. I flushed my yellow ink line, installed another new damper, soaked/cleaned the printhead.
Still no yellow nozzle printing, all dropped out

I think there might be some clogging at the choke valve. That's my next step

Do you remember any solutions when Roland engineers and R&D were trying to figure out what was causing this problem?

Yes, there was an issue with the yellow EUV ink about 9-10 years ago.
It is rare that ink/printer manufacturers will admit to bad ink.
Roland did in this case and there was a do not use the yellow ink unless it had a green dot on the cartridge warning.
Heads had to be replace, problems, etc.
Since then, I have not seen any yellow EUV ink issues.

It was the EUV 2 ink, i remember beeing a problem. Most UV ink problems i encountered had been with overaged inks., Suck at the damper, if it's clogged, flush with cleaning solution. When lucky, you can backflush the head, but most of the time, you need to replace it.

No, it was the EUV4/EUV5 inks... EUV2 was a 'solution'
Yes to backflushing the damper and printhead as a chance to save and extend their lifespan
