Best Protection for SignGold?

I would like to hear some opinions on the best way to protect SignGold on a fire truck. I print the outlines and shadows directly on the SignGold with my Edge, then I usually put clear high performance cast vinyl over top with an overlap. I've heard some people say they run regular laminate through their plotter and put that over top, and some say they just edge seal. These trucks get washed a lot, and normally with a brush so I feel like edge sealing alone is not good enough.

We do the claer cast over the signgold when we want it to really hold up, if it's not as much of an issue, frogjuice
