Anyone ever seen, experienced or heard of the BiDirectional printing being off (prints are blurry in the scan direction) and printing UniDirectional makes perfect prints. (However at least 2 times longer time wise to print)
Media Gap, Calibration, Nozzle checks perfect

Encoder film strip is clean

Is the Encoder sensor going bad?
What was your experience?
What was your solution?

thank you!!!

I know when my SP-540v was doing weird things like that I had to end up replacing the encoder sensor ribbon after replacing the encoder strip 2x and that took care of the issues.
Something to look into, just reminded me of my Roland.

Interesting... the media gap and calibration are done in the normal menu mode... but maybe I'll try in service mode. thanks
Please post a picture of the nozzle test print.
being that it is fine when printing a unidirectional then obviously you need to form M-gap or directional adjustment. What model printer do you have because it is called something different depending on which model. Also there is a standard and a detail mode. Please see the user manual for your model and you’ll find all of this

Since he writes about Mgap, I gathered he talks about a TrueVis, because the was the first time Roland changed the nomenclature from Bidi to Mgap. We had some troubles with the automatic adjustments starting with the VG3/SG3 and the new sensor. So I thought that could be the problem...
A hint to what model he's writing about would definitely help...

Nozzle check/Test is perfect... no dropped nozzles or deflected nozzles
