Bumpers in a lightbox?

Quoting a project now. Lightbox with 2 12' acrylic sheets making one seam. Specs from national requirements list bumpers to be used at the seam. No mechanicals have been provided......can someone elaborate on a bumper?

a stop on the inside of the cabinet so that the acrylic doesnt flex inward

Well, the one diagram is for double sided and the other is a close up.

Usually not needed in a flush mount box, but if it's code, you need to obey.
