Modified. That won't hold up in court. Ever hear of something called "design language" or "trade dress"? Either way you say it they both deal with trademarked images or general appearance. You would have to modify a logo to the point of being unrecognizable. Then you may as well have started from scratch.

H-D has deep pockets and lawyers for this stuff.
